Well the storm didn't pass us by. We are getting hit quite hard right now. All schools are closed, the city buses aren't running, most businesses are deciding not to open, cabs aren't coming up this way because of the hill and road conditions and there is no way I can get my car out of the parking lot. It is only going to get worse as the day goes on but I have to go to work. Not sure how I am going to get there. My boss is down south on vacation so he can't pick me up. I guess I will figure it out. I think I said this many times before I hate winter.
Hoping you all have a wonderful day or night depending where you are.

What a difference a few miles make. The snow is just starting here. No accumulation yet. I wonder what the day will bring.

@Happy2BeMe it's coming down a lot heavier now. Hubby has an appointment in Cap Pele for and oil change at 8 AM. He'll be heading out in about half an hour. Hope that the weather is decent at least until he gets back home.

@Happy2BeMe He finishes for about 6:30. So on a good day, it may take him about an hour on public transit. Now, I'm really not sure what's going to happen.

@Happy2BeMe I hope that you didn't stu and fret all day about missing work.
When the boss (in charge) cannot get in, it only makes sense that everyone else will have issues as well. I hope that you enjoyed the day off.

@Happy2BeMe It would be good if there was stuff you could do at home, you don't want to put yourself at risk just for the sake of a sign!

@Happy2BeMe I read it. You were better off not risking your life for a job. Good for you!

This is such an extreme situation that your work should be shut down.

I'm not too sure when you wrote this, but it brought to mind the winters in Montana and how much I hated them. I'm not a cold person and I sure don't like ice and snow. So I moved back to California back in 1981. The horrific rains were more tolerable than the snow and ice. Fast forward to March 6th. I was supposed to do my half day working at the shop...except...we got to the creek and it was more like a river. That was the lower crossing. The water was about 100 feet across and about three feet deep the whole 100 feet across. So we turned around and went to the upper crossing.
We got there and it was about 75 feet across and running about 3 and a half feet deep with a lot of debris blocking the roadway. No way could we cross. When the water is running that deep it is usually too dangerous for a vehicle to try to cross the "creek" to get out. Too many people have taken chances trying to cross the creek when it was running hard and deep, even after the people living back where I live banded together and laid concrete across both crossings to make it safer to drive through the water. We ended up going home and I called work and told the we weren't coming in.
I can understand the reasoning as to "WHY" the various modes of public transportation won't work in your part of the world. It's too easy to have an accident and have people injured. Especially with the possibility of black ice causing a vehicle to suddenly slide. I read a lot of accident reports about vehicles having accidents on black ice...and very often opted to stay home rather than go out on a serious storm day.
