You do have to watch your nutrition first. I'll give you an example, let's say you work out and lose 100 calories in a day. In that same day you consume 200 calories or even a 100 calories. You find that netwise, youre not making gains to lose weight.
After watchin your nutrition, the type of work out you do and how you do it is important.
I recommend AthleanX channel to you. Check it out on youtube. I have never seen a person more educated about these things than the owner of the channel. His name is Jeff Cavalier. I think they also have a channel dedicated to women as well. Do check it out for abs work out.
