Who is afraid of the big bad snowstorm?

Apparently we had more snow fall in 24 hours since sometime in the nineties. I woke up before the 7:30 AM news to see what had happened with the snow and heard how much snow had fallen. It was 36 cm which is about 14 inches. They said that schools and universities had cancelled classes and it would be hard to get around. I decided to cancel my plans for going out and got up and spent some hours catching up on myLot. I always have something interesting to do. Before going on myLot, I did a couple of sudoku puzzles. I find them very interesting exercises in logic and thinking which is needed to finish them correctly. After about 4 hrs on myLot I got antsy and decided to go out and experience the results firsthand of the big bad snowstorm. Yes, there was a lot of snow and it took more energy to walk on the sidewalk and on the street at times because some sidewalks were full of snow. I took a bus after walking for about 20 minutes and there was no one on it besides the driver. A handful of people got on the bus before I got to my destination. Even the subway was almost empty compared to other days. No problem finding a seat at all. I did some errands and bought some food and came home and did some weight exercises. I use dumbells that are 8 lbs each. Now it is time to eat! How did you fare today, whether you had snow or had none?
Montrealers woke up to 36 cm of snow on the ground and up to 5 cm more will fall as the day progresses. Hundreds of schools across the province cancelled classes, including CEGEPs and Universities, because driving is extremely difficult. Even the Carnaval

That's a lot of snow, but glad you occupied your time so well. Here, it's been raining off and on all day, but I shouldn't complain. I'm so thankful that it's not snow.

I think we would have rejoiced and jumped like crazy if it had been rain. Maybe not, as that would have caused a lot of floods as there is a lot of snow in the sewers.

@1hopefulman Our rain would have turned to snow up your way! You certainly don't want flooding and freezing!

I noticed the windshield wipers of the car in the photo are sticking up. I guess they freeze to the window if you don't do this. Is that correct?

Yes, and then they can get damaged. So, a lot of people stick them up.

@JudyEv , Good observation Judy! I went back and check the photo and sure it was right there. I'll have to ask my sis if she does that?

That's a lot of snow. Here we're not allowed to park on the street in winter so the plows can plow. If you do, it's a heavy fine.

Yes, it is a lot but we get that few times a winter. In a huge city with many multi-family dwellings, parking is a huge problem. It is one of the reasons I got rid of my car. At times, it would tale quite a while to find a parking.

@1hopefulman I can't believe the stories my sister tell me about the parking problems where she lives. I am so glad that we have always had nice private driveways in all the houses that we owned.

It can indeed be very tough in such snowfall and snowstorm. Even we have had quite long winters and less than normal temperatures owing to snow and rain in Himalayas.

I have been extremely lucky with winter storms this season. Maybe climate change has something to do with it or just changing weather cycles, but we have not had a snowfall of more than 3" so far. Sure I just jinxed our neighborhood with that proclamation

I don't mind snow as long as I don't have to drive around it. I am blessed to work from home but in the past, when I was a truck driver, I have driven thru the snow many times and it was not fun.
