so,i've been working at this place for a couple of years now..and lately i've been having to fight my boss for even ONE requested day off..the one girl asked for saturday (which wasn't supposed to be allowed) and the other girl wants TWO days off when she has less seniority than me.. one day..and it's a fight. it's the only day i can get my husband in for his finger stick INR for a warfarin level-something you can't play with. "can't he take himself?" well, let's see..he has a 24% heart rate, can't push the wheelchair as such, and diabetic feet..so he can't walk well..what do you think? and she knows damn well what condition he's in. suddenly,i do my beds wrong after all this time too.amazingly, one month before a due pay raise...hmm... i found out a place in 2 minutes walk of me is hiring.. i think at the very least i might fill out an app.maybe then she'll get the hint i'm pissed...and they pay more..

Sorry to hear that. I know how you feel though. I have been with the company I am with for 31 years and they still give me a hassle everytime I ask for a day off for something. I think you should apply for the other job and I wish you luck with it.

that is very unreasonable. In our company 1 day leaves are never even questioned since we need a break from time to time I hope you can check out other opportunities too if they are better

you would think that the older, more reliable, more efficient employees have earned it. and it's just one day that's not even a real day off. i can understand it if it's a week-long cruise. how will the new employees learn the job if they're always allowed to take leaves?

employers here for some reason ride the better employees until they quit.i don't get it.it's like they don't care as long as they make their money right now.

i've known such a place, where's others got whate'er they wished 'n i'd the need to put'n 3 months prior jest fer'n 'fternoon fer parent-teacher conferences (most 'f which my boss'd cancel the day prior 'n give that time to somebody else). i say follow yer heart. jobs're hard to come by these days 'n ya ne'er know if'n what'cha get next turns out to be the same if'n not worse.

@scarlet_woman I second on your decision on filling out an app for another work. It's hard to work when you can't really get along with the people around. Look for a job that you love and you won't have to work for the rest of your life...

@scarlet_woman I think your boss can't do things in her own... I know a lot of institutions like that. Loosing the best people in the workplace...

I'd go for the job and when you get it tell her to take her job and shove it.

I can understand why you would start looking. She doesn't sound like a boss that I would want!!

I am so sorry, this seems the same all over the world, the good old employees are those with worse treatment.

An uncaring boss like that doesn't deserve you. Take the other job if you can get it.

@scarlet_woman I hated working for others and having to fight to get a day off. My boss was out of the country and I got bronchitis so had to be at home and they called me to come in when I told them I cannot come in. It is so hard.

Sometimes, it's really true that good employees leave not because of the job, but because of the boss. I think you need to start looking for jobs that would give you a proper work and life balance.
