At it's current rate of decvelopment perhaps but there is another factor involved which may hamper this process and that is the reluctance of current super powers to relinquish their positions of being top dogs. History shows us that when empires start to fail they make desperate efforts to hangs onto power and as their fall from grace becomes more imminent so their efforts intensify, to the point of extreme action regardless of others. In other words it could get ugly before India gains centre stage.

It depends on lot of factor.. but as we can now a days, growth in india is one of the highest in the world with lot of defence resouces... GDP growth is great... Apart from this i remember 'Nostradamus" prediction where he said clearly about the same

Dear friend, why we need to think about it! Whether we become superpower or not what really make difference to us! We need to focus on our national integration that is enough, rest of the responsibility to make our nation a superpower will be born by our promising young generation. For me it is a very less important to be a super power or anything else but it is really important that we should be respected all around world through our deeds. We are the nation which has showen the path of nonviolance to entire world Mahatma Gandhi had showed the world that you can get justice by nonviolant means, there is no place for violance in any aspect of the humansociety. Any society which harbours violance is not civil society and does not respected at all whether it is super power or a third world country. The merit is in being respected by others.
In my perspective a super power is a country which inspires other country through its generocity, justice and nonalient politics. So no one need to fear of it but respect even more and can use it's resources to up it's own standards.
