Have you ever been on a cruise?

I have not. I have thought I would enjoy it. A friend has been, and she's sent footage of it to me. She is going again this year. I am watching a youtuber who is in Belgium on Holiday, they disembarked from somewhere in the UK. The cruise ship they are on is nice, but the views are magnificent. Have you ever been on a cruise? I'd like to go on one that cruises the Great Lakes here in the US. Maybe not as exciting as the others, but I think I'd enjoy it. Have you ever been on a cruise?

Hour-long cruises up and down the Ohio River or the Mississippi River are about as far as I’ve gone. Our myLotter Lori is on a cruise right now. I told her to have enough fun for me, too.

I was thinking about her when I wrote this. I knew she was on vacation but I couldn't recall where. I don't think this is her first cruise either. I hope she's enjoying herself.

@FourWalls Living the life, I guess. I don't talk to her that much anymore, I used to a lot. Hawaii would be beautiful, one of the places I'd love to see.

@ScribbledAdNauseum — she went on a cruise in October or November, and now she’s talking about cruising to Hawaii. I hope she takes hubby with her on that one.

I have been on two, the first one with my parents and the second one with my husband, it was a wedding gift. Well, we are both not big fan of cruises.

Well, that was a nice wedding gift. Was that your honeymoon then?

@LadyDuck Oh I see. Yes, I can understand that. There would be more freedom with exploring places as well. I know that you can explore some places that you land at, but you have timetables to keep. I'd be worried that I'd somehow miss it, which is why I'd never go on a cruise alone. I am sure it's also much more affordable to go it your own way.

@ScribbledAdNauseum We skipped honeymoon and went on the cruise the year after we married. We are very independent, when we visit a place, we eat when we like, we go visit what we want. On a cruise you have to respect your turn for everything. Not to mention the long waiting to debark, we got pretty bored.

The only cruises I've been on have been dinner cruises in Branson, Charleston, and somewhere in Arkansas. Our daughter and son and their kids all are crazy about cruises and have been on several. My husband and I would rather drive or fly somewhere on vacation.

I don't know, I find the water to be calming and revitalizing. A cruise would be right up my alley. I know it's not for everyone. I have heard that once you take your first cruise it becomes somewhat addicting.

@1creekgirl I would think she'd eventually tire of that kind of life. I know that some retire, sale their homes and buy an RV. They might purchase an apartment or something so that they always have something to come home to. If I were to do that, and provided I had children (I don't yet), I'd want to have the apartment in whatever city my children were in.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That must be true! Our daughter wants to live on a cruise she when she retires! Sure hope her husband doesn't agree. I would always want a home to come home to.

I have not. And would never be able to. I get sea sick and dont know, or want to know, how to swim

I guess the sea isn't for everyone. I would expect some seasickness myself, but I'd get over it just for the experience.

@WiseGhots There's also a train trip I want to take Across America. It's cheapish, actually. $200.00, that doesn't include other expenses of course.

@snowy22315 A friend of mine went and hers took her to the Carribean. She brought me back two gifts. I hope she doesn't bring me back anything this year, I know she's worried about the finances of it.

That is the kind of cruise I would like. The one in the great lakes, I've not llooked it up in awhile, but if memory serves, it includes some colonial history lessons.

@jaboUK Oh wow! I bet the waters were beautiful! The cruise a friend went on allowed her to swim with the dolphins as part of the package.

No I've never been on one. I'm interested more in the various river cruises rather than country to country type cruises. The great lakes one that you mention sounds good. I'd also like to take a long rail trip, for my honeymoon I was supposed to go part way on the orient express visiting vienna prague and budapest but it fell through

There's a rail trip across the US I want to do as well. It's probably gone up in price, but last I checked it was $200.00. Which would be a lot cheaper than a cruiseline.

@ScribbledAdNauseum my dad took a rail trip across canada coast to coast and that sounded amazing. He's actually taken some pretty great trips in the last few years such as an a380 cruise over everest with a tiger safari in nepal (pictures not hunting!!) and some rail trips in india.

Same here. I've seen Alaska through youtube videos, but would love to see it for myself one day. If I had the money, I'd travel the world Wouldn't we all?

I've never been on a cruise, and most of them don't appeal to me. However, the Viking river cruises in Europe might one day lure me in. Right now, though, I don't have that kind of money to spend.

Oh yes, those interest me too. A friend went on a Carnival Cruiseline for her honeymoon. I know she's going again this year, but I'm not sure of exactly when. There's one that does the Great Lakes here that I want to do with a few friends.

My daughter loves cruising and has been frequently. Me, I've only done a weekend cruise to nowhere and it was lots of fun. I always said I wanted to do another week long cruise but so far I haven't gone.

No, you aren't wrong. From what I've heard and seen, that's the way they go. There's places on the boat you can shop from, but of course they are expensive. There are duty taxes and such as well.

I'll let the cruise ship provide the foods, actually. Of course a camera would be first on my list. Capturing moments.
