Window vs Split airconditioner

Do those homes which don't have centralised cooling you need to install air-conditioners for the rooms. Two popular options are window air-conditioners and split air-conditioners.
I usually prefer split ACS but recently in 9ir old home we had to replace a broken window ac and just bought another window ac as it made things easier and cheaper.
Which do you prefer and what are the possible advantages?

I don't have ac in my house because it is open and don't need any.

I prefer window Ac's. Split ones are expensive and cause a lot many issues.
