Hi everyone! Our country have celebrated heart health this February, and have expound on meaures to keep one of the most important organ of the body in its best form. Here are what i have learned from them:
1. Exercise is key. 30-45 mins of moderately vigorous exercise most days of the week will keep cholesterol and fat away from the blood vessels. Exercise also increases insulin resistance and lowers blood sugar levels to normal.
2. The DASH diet. Diet high in fiber like fruits and vegetables, to include fish. This diet helps lower cholesterol levels and even helps in the prevention and certain cancers.
3. Meditation/other relaxation strategies. Stress have been known to cause oxidatuve stress in the cellular level. And relaxation exercises helps prevent the damages they may cause.
4. For those who have heart disease, compliance to medications and regular follow up with your doctor.
I hope this will be a help to everyone, God bless!

That's good advice. Seems like a sensible awarness month as an increasing number of people don't take care of their hearts, neither with their diet or their exercise level.
Which reminds I should leave my computer now and get out for some hours of fresh air, exercise and walking around in the mud :-)
