hi, i am sanjayKumar Rajbhar, working in GIS industry.................... GIS mease it is sets of data any thing in earth (such as your city) which can be stored Grafically with help of software like ArcGIS, AutoCAD etc........ this type of data prepared by GIS Company and then this data is purchased by telecom company respectively. u can see GPS service in mobile. what u see in grafically in the mobile is prared by GIS COMpany

whos GIS never herd of it or i dont kno maybe i have i just cant remember.

GIS means that GEOLOGICAL informaton system... its detail about soil rock types...
