Time goes by but the heartache never really goes away

It is five years ago today since my mom passed away. There is not a day goes by that I don't think of her. She was one of the strongest women that I knew. Life wasn't always easy for her but when life got tough mom always got tougher. After Dad passed away she had a hard time. He was the love of her life. He was only 68 when he died in his sleep. At 70 years old she got her drivers license. She was a true inspiration to me and because of her I am the strong, independent woman that I am today. I was blessed to have her in my life for as long as I did but I can't help but wish it had been for longer. I always feel bad for people who do not have a close relationship with their parents. I don't know where I would be today if I didn't have them there to support me and stand behind me even when I made bad choices. They always believed in me even when I didn't believe in myself. For those of you who still have your parent(s). Treasure every moment. Take a minute out of your busy day to call to let them know you are thinking of them. Life sure is different once they are no longer here. I was so blessed to have had the parents that I did. I had a close relationship with both my mom and dad and I miss them both so much. You learn to get through each day and move forward but there is that ache in your heart that never really goes away. Who is the person who had inspired you most in life?

I don't have words that can lower your pain at present. All I can say is that you have to be a string daughter from a strong mother. Parents are priceless and there is nothing that can replace their position in our lives.

I'm so sorry for your losses. . My biggest fear is losing my mom. She's my bestfriend, and only parent.

My maternal grandmother passed away two years ago, last Sunday (February 17). It's still hard. She was such an important part of my life. She was always there for us, and she was so strong. I do miss her. Just like you miss your mom.

I'm so sorry for your losses and love your photo. I have lost both my wonderful parents. They also were supportive and wonderful. I was always Daddy's little girl and the apple of my mother's eye. Each of them guided me throughout my life, my marriage, and even when I became a mommy myself. They taught me everything I know about being a loving wife, mother, and person. I miss them both, and not a day goes by that I don't pray for them in Heaven and wish they could see what a wonderful job they did. I know they did their best for their kids and were so proud. I'm sure your mother must have felt the same way.

We have an empty place inside our heart, which only Mom and Dad can fill:) They brought us into this world and did the best they could, to raise us the right way!

I am glad your mom was such an inspiration. I love my mom, and I know she loves us in her way, but she is not the kind of inspiring person..as your mother. She never made it clear really that she valued us, and there is no reason she can't make phone calls. I always let my son know I am interested in how he is doing. There are all kinds of parents out there and all kinds of relationships..Be glad you had a great one!

Life gets busy for most of us and that's when we forget to spend quality time with our elders, it's a shame but it happens.

@Happy2BeMe I knew the time had to be coming so it was very worth the effort. Sadly my siblings did not feel the same way. But they have to live with that.

We lost our mother almost years ago, but until now some of her things are still in her closet. Little by little I transfer them to the other room. I really miss my mother.

Aw bless her RIP your dear brave Mother..a lovely photo too Laurel. Sorry. Oh me too, I can relate, just lost my beloved Mama in July last year. I am barely breathing without her loving presence. Why it is Mother alone who made me what I am today and gave me the will and inspired me.

So sorry for your loss. I lost my Mom more than a decade ago, and I sure miss her totally. She also was a very strong woman and wasn't afraid of working hard. She raised us with my Dad in a wonderful home, and we only have good memories of those days and so wish that they both were here still with us.
