I Put Him on a Diet Last Week!

My husband loves food and so do I. He used to be so thin, but blames my good cooking for his weight gain. I blame him for stopping off while out and about and “treating” himself to extra bites of food. He does work out and plays sports and keeps very active, but can’t gain weight on what I see him eat at home or when dining out.
So.....last Monday I put him on a diet! Less of everything. No quiches, bruschetta, cheeses, potatoes, desserts, breads, and heavy unhealthy meats, etc.
The good news is that he lost 8 pounds! I am so happy for him. I want him to be healthy and live a long, long time.
Even better news, somehow I lost 7.2 pounds! If I can lose a couple of more pounds, I can buy a new wardrobe! . My gym shorts were too big this morning. And it’s odd that I’ve been the same weight my adult life, give or take a few.
Are you within a healthy weight range?

I am a healthy weight and don't have a need for losing any. Matter of fact when I do lose weight my face gets more thin than I can stand-I look "sickly". Ew! Lol.

@DianneN Well thank you! =) As a child I was very chubby and always got made fun for it. Since my first pregnancy, I have always been thin as an adult and grateful for that. I could use some toning-not enough to worry about it though. Lol

@LovingMyBabies . I can't picture you being chubby, but kids or whomever made fun of you were brutal and not very nice. But you got the last laugh!!!

I have been more or less the same weight since I was 30, I am 4 pounds more now. My husband eats well, he now even asks for cakes and pastries that he never wanted to have and he is incredibly thin. The doctor said he is as healthy as a horse, I am envious.

I'm currently trying to drop a few pounds, under instruction from Mrs. WorDazza.
I'm not overweight by any means but I do tend to gather momentum in the weight department. If I let things slip and put on a few pounds I can easily fall into a "who cares" mentality and the few pounds becomes a few more pounds which becomes a few more pounds which...
I'm nipping it in the bud!!

Thanks! I'm so glad he finally made up his mind. And you, don't make me jealous! I have to keep an eye on myself all the time. My dear daddy was like you. No matter how much he ate, he couldn't gain weight. They sent him away to camp for skinny people to gain weight for a summer in hopes he'd come home fatter, but no such luck. lol

Good food is so addictive but it can become a health hazard. Good that you are taking action to keep things in check.

I think I'm in a healthy weight range, though I am sure I weigh more than "before kids". But it's still "ok" - I'm just short and small, so I just might be getting away with it . Hubby on the otherhand can stand to lose a bit .

@DianneN Remember those skating clothes I said I couldn't let go of? I took a closer look this weekend . . . there's no way I'm going to squeeze into those body suits ever again (gawd was my waist actually that small back then ?) . . so I finally put them in the donation bag .
I told Hubby (before he was Hubby) that he would put on weight if he stayed with me (just a funny, joking prediction - because we loved going out to eat). Well, til this day he always uses that against me - he says I was right .
That's great your husband made the healthy decision!

@much2say I'm not much different from the weight I was when we got married. Well, a bit different, lol, but as we age our bodies seem to change for the worse. Clothes I wore a few years ago just don't look right anymore. I'm sorry you have to ditch your skating clothes. It must hurt to do so.
Well, your husband can't hold that against you. He was warned.
Thanks! I'm going to help my hubs in every way possible to stick to this.

Glad to hear he lost weight. Taking the starches and sugars out of your diet can make a big difference.

You have to have the right mindset. I've been harping on my husband for a long time. When I told him I was concerned that he would get ill, he finally understood and decided to do something about it. I'm so glad he is making wiser health choices now. I hope you can do it, too!

I don't know if I'm within a healthy weight range, but I did lose about 35 lbs last year. I paid more attention to what I was eating, watched my portion size, and only had one helping - no seconds.
After the initial weight loss, I read up on the Keto Diet and decided to watch my carb intake. I'm not strict about following the keto rules, but I do watch the amount of carbs I take in.

@DianneN - Thank you Dianne.
I wasn't really trying to lose weight. I had knee replacement surgery and I think the pain meds helped reduce my apatite. Then once I was up and moving again, I had to use more of my body to walk so that may have helped also.
Whatever it was, I've lost a bunch of weight and I intend to keep it off.

That's totally awesome. Sounds like my diet. I'm working on it. I checked my weight this morning and I'm happy to say, I'm going down again. I've lost three pounds in the last week, so almost where I was when I had lost a total of 37 last year. Only two pounds to go to that goal again, then down I go for that last 100 pounds.

Good for you! I know he won't be losing as fast as he did this week. It's all water weight, but it IS a very nice impetus to keep going. He will have to make wiser choices when we eat out, but has already started, so that's a huge plus.
Keep up the good work Val!!!!
