What's been your scariest experience?

Apart from a couple of near misses when driving my car or walking near traffic I think my scariest experience must be when something tried to choke me in my bed one night.
I felt hands around my throat but could do nothing about it - I was frozen with fear and unable to breathe. This lasted for a good few seconds before, for some reason, the hands let go and I was free. Sitting up I gasped a breathe and looked around for my assailant but, of course, no-one was there.
Was I truly attacked by an unseen apparition or was it some form of 'night terrors' and it was all in my mind?

Are you sure it wasn't the missus?
I jest.
Following your lead, I"ll tell my own story of supernatural phenomena. Well, I'll tell one story as I have a few.
This happened to me when I was around the age of 20. I was sitting in my living room, my roommates were all working or else out with their boyfriends. It was really late, maybe 2 am. I heard the sound of a person running and felt a strong sense of terror come over me. The running sound started in the middle of my kitchen and ended right before my bedroom door. This persisted for several months, and only occurred in the winter.
We think it was the unrested spirit of a farmer. There was a creek that ran behind my house, though we never went to see it. The area around it was heavy with brush and kudzu type. We assumed that it might have been a debtor running from his obligations.. I could go into more detail as to why we thought this...
As for your own terror, it could have been the result of a dream or it could have been a maligned spirit.

@ThreeTeddies We women are the cunning type. You might think we aren't bothered by something, but we are just waiting for the most opportune moment to strike!

@ThreeTeddies My father had a house in our garden about a kilometer from our residence. The house is abandoned and located between two graveyards.Once when in daytime I went inside a big hall in it ,I suddenly had an eerie feeling.Someone or something was asking me to leave the hall immediately. His voice was inaudible.Terrified I left the halt immediately. My father and my helpers also had the same scary experience in that hall.

Maybe you're just having a bad dream. Sometimes I also experience having such dreams that feel so real even if I am already awake, I even woke up crying sometimes.
As to my scariest experience ,I think its when our house before was almost caught in fire...

As a recruit in the army, I was training in an island. The island is not a pleasant one. It was hot, humid and we had been in the island without leaving for a couple of weeks. The island was said to be haunted. It used to be a civilian island which is now a military base.
I was sleeping in my bunk with my boxer. For those who do not know, the reason why most of us sleep with a boxer is to speed up our changing clothes processes and rush down to assemble in the shortest time.
It was this night where I was sleeping when I felt that I was dreaming when I saw a lady in red dress and long hair but I could not see the facial features. She suddenly speeded up to my bed and sit on me which is suppose to be an compromising position but I felt no weight on her and choked me. So I was waking my hands and caused the commotion in the room as I was been woke up by my bunkmate.
My body has scratches and blue black bruises and my boxer was tore on the side. So till today I was not sure if I was dreaming or that I did encounter the attack. It could be that I had suffocated during my sleep and ended up injuring myself in the process.

sounds like you had had a kind of a mild stroke at the time. Glad that you got out of that OK. I had had some similar experience with not being able to breath, thinking there was some black shadow tried to smother me once. Some explained that that was from some bad spirit/ghosts, science said, 'because we must have put our body on an odd angle and the heart/blood circulation was encountering difficulty hence the strange feeling/dream/etc.
