Grocery Shopping

I knew what I could afford, so I put my eating plan into action at Wal-Mart. I checked my balance with all I spent yesterday on the car, and I know I still have parts to pay for when Aaron is ready to start working on it. So, with that in mind, I went to the store and stayed within my budget with eggs, fruit, and vegetables. My fridge and freezer are packed to the gills and the total came to less than $100 for which I'm grateful. My egg diet officially starts today. I got all five boxes in the fridge. Not much room left for anything else, so it worked. I did need to leave out the remainder of the box that was in there, but there are not many eggs left in it, so it will be fine. I only hope when this month is over, I still like eggs. How is your day going? Thanks for reading.

What is the egg diet? How many eggs do you have to eat a day?

It isn't an actual diet. Eggs are cheap and good for you, and with my car in my son's hands, and all the extra money this month going to the car, I had to find a way to eat cheap. This is the best way.

@just4him Yes for sure. I am not a fan of eggs so I know I wouldn't be happy eating too many of them.

@Happy2BeMe We do what we must. I'm sure there's something you could eat that would be easy on the budget if necessary. A lot of pasta meals are low price. Pasta isn't on my food program, so it's completely out.

I have eggs most mornings. Change the way you cook them. That helps a lot.

I love eggs and I ate them for breakfast every day for at least 5 years while we were doing Atkins.

They are very good for you. I've had them almost every day for breakfast. I change it up with a banana porridge every so often or healthy pancakes.

Did you decide to switch to another diet, or you decided to eat eggs because they are a good inexpensive source of protein?

I decided to eat eggs because I need to get my car fixed and I needed to rearrange my finances to make that happen. My older son will fix my car but needs to wait for warmer weather, at least 35F. We'll see those temps next week.

I heard of an egg fast, but that's only for 3 to 7 days...I hope you will still like eggs after. I tried the egg fast and now I can't really eat them as scrambled or an omelet. Still love them fried or hard boiled.

@MommyOfEli2013 So far this month, I've done a lot of cheating. Today was the biggest cheat day. So, I'll need to be good for the rest of the month.

I'm glad you stayed within budget-God is good! =) I would no longer like eggs if it were me. I have trouble eating them now sometimes because we ate them a lot for a while. My husband went to work and I have a massive amount of chores and packing to do today-in between other things.

@just4him He's not doing better, unfortunately. He was being stubborn by going to work...until it started raining. God didn't allow him to go. Lol.

@just4him you know what is great. I make what I call egg pancakes. You can make as little or as much as you like. I take four eggs, add some spices, grate some cheese if you like you can add some sausage, in other words, add whatever you like or just the eggs and spices. Mix them up and then drop the mixture by spoonful in a pan (I have a pan with four indentations) and each one cooks up as an individual egg pancake.

You certainly loaded up and very well it appears. Try varying the way you prepare your eggs. They are so versatile.

@just4him wooowww 9 per day??But that's not healthy. It is recommended to enter only 2 eggs per week.

@Nevena83 Eggs are the healthiest food available. Nothing unhealthy about eggs. Doctors and science had it wrong for so many years. It wasn't until the late 1900s that they realized how healthy eggs really are. That's when I started really eating eggs. The high cholesterol in eggs is the good cholesterol the body needs to combat the bad cholesterol.

Right now, not as many as I expected, but I'm sure that will change. I expect a minimum of three per meal, which is how I figured I needed 5 boxes. Yes, they do last a while outside the fridge. I'll be finishing up that box this morning.
