Among many known diseases has arisen, perhaps more recently the compulsive accumulation of things. I am watching a program on that subject where the whole family, mother, father and daughter suffer from this mental disorder. These people hardly accept the fact of being accumulators, for them the garbage that surrounds them represents important things in their life and they do not want to get rid of it. These people lose their properties due to this disorder

I think "Hoarding" might be in the latest DSM (the manual psychologists use to diagnose people). I think it might be under the broader heading of "Anxiety Disorders," but I'd have to check.

We bought new pans a fortnight ago. Dad retained box and packing. A month ago, we had some painting done outside, dad retained paint bucket. This morning I slyly let maid take that way...she wanted it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When I look at packages around my home, I suffer with anxiety.

@herre01 It is difficult to talk to my father. LOL. Earlier I used to try. Last few years .. almost six years I have stopped doing that. He has hypertension, and I feel it might lead to some stroke. I find me weighing...is dad more important or is clean home more important...then I tell me shut up.

I have seen a show about that. It is a series called "Hoarders". It is scary and sad about those people.

Yes it is a terrible thing to be collecting so much stuff. It is a chain around your neck.

I should check this one out and learn more. I guess the worst thing in any condition is when the person cannot accept they had the problem. Until then there is no much change that can happen
