USA today news
Alex Trebek, the longtime host of "Jeopardy!," announced he has stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
The 78-year-old appeared to be in good spirits as he revealed the diagnosis on the game show's YouTube channel Wednesday, adding, "I wanted to be the one to pass along this information."
"Just like 50,000 other people in the United States each year, this week I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer," he said. "Now normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working."

So, so sad. They are making progress in treatment, though. My primary care doctor has lived with it for four years now.
I have to appreciate his humor, too: he has to win the fight against the cancer, “because, under the terms of my contract, I have to host Jeopardy for three more years!”
Praying for you, Alex.

I thought that he was very clever to take the bull by the horns and tell the public this news in his own words. It says a lot about the trust or lack there of in the press.
When I heard the announcement on the radio on my way home from work, it brought tears to my eyes.

Awww, that is sad. But while working with cancer patients, his outlook is best and can prolong his life.

@amadeo In my research about lung cancer I found a study noting that its not as fast as they thought, it can take years and years before it big enough to be seen on xray, so in my opinion cancer is there 5-7 years before being seen.

I watch Alex Trebek on Jeopardy, every weekday evening at 7:00PM. He's one of my favorite people, in this world. It's a shame that this man has been stricken, by this evil disease that claims to many lives each year I will pray for his complete healing!

That is sad. But I am happy to see his spirit. He is a brave fellow.
I lost my dad at a very young age due to pancreatic cancer. I was just 2 and he was 32. He was a doctor himself. There was no symptoms till one had the tumor blasted while he was on hospital rounds. He passed away in next 7 hours.
So a healthy doctor didn't know that he has such a disease and luckily he had to live with the diagnosis for a few hours.

@amadeo Stage !V is not good. It is graded from the lower being one. Stage 4 pancreatic cancer means the cancer has spread to other organs, typically the liver or the lungs. You can’t cure the cancer at this point, but you still have treatment options.

I saw that on the news last night. It's sad, and I hope he beats it. Stage 4 doesn't usually have a good prognosis.
