The Strangest Thing Happened Today

Was out running errands again today. Stopped to have lunch at a Chinese buffet. The strangest man was there. He was by himself. Talking to himself. While he was getting his food (beside me) he was talking outloud about the food, saying this was his favorite, etc. But not talking to me, to himself. He was a young guy probably in his 20s.
When he sat down, he danced to the music that was playing. He ate with chopsticks, even chicken and other foods. The he would wave the chopsticks in the air to the beat of the music. Everybody was looking at him, not knowing what to think. He was definitely in his own little world.
He would say strange things like...I feel like a cartoon character I have eaten so much sushi. Then he said... have I fallen out of my body. I feel like I am not in my body any more. Oh no what is happening. And then he would start singing along to the music, saying that was his favorite song.
He had on what looked like work clothes with these fingerless gloves. He kept the gloves on when he ate and when he would go up to the buffet. Real sanitary right! We did not go back for seconds today. And passed on dessert, as he was at the dessert bar singing as we left.
When we left we told the manager they might should keep an eye on him. I certainly hope he wan't driving. Makes you wonder what was going on. My first thought was drugs. But I know I shouldn't judge. I wanted to let someone know just to keep an eye out. You just never know about people these days. And you don't dare say anything to the person, he could have had a gun.
I may sound paranoid but I think I am just cautious. I watch the news. I know there are all kinds of people in the world. The best thing you can do is just keep your eyes open and always know your surroundings.
Has this every happened to you before? Did you say anything to the person? Or to management?

Did he have a blue tooth? or whatever they are called in his ear? He may have had a body cam on and recording this for youtube.
He could have been wanting attention and does this often.
Have you ever watched impractical jokers? they do stuff like that.
OR he was as nutty as a fruit cake, LOL.

Sounds like a guy off his meds. I think as long as he posed no threat..letting it go was the wisest choice!

I think it sounds like he has a mental health issue. No, it hasn't happened to me, but it has happened to my adult son at his local gym he likes to exercise in. There was a guy who was not friendly and always trying to pic a fight with people there. My son and others told the manager about him. He has not been there recently. My son is hoping the manager band him from coming to that gym.

An older man spoke to me, while entering the Meijer's store. He pointed to his fantastic truck and told me where he lives. He was far too friendly, like he was looking for a lady to impress, or something even worse. Then, he stalked me through the entire store. When I turned down an aisle, he would either follow behind or pass by going the opposite direction! When I finally got to the checkout, he was going through another line, at the exact same time. I walked out of there fast, got in my car, and locked the doors, then drove out of the parking lot in a hurry! It scared me I'm glad you stayed your distance from that man!

The guy has his own world but it is really hard to say a word for them until we've known their story...

That was really unnerving, I'm sure. Wonder if it was a mental health problem...you were probaly wise not to approach him

I think he is harmless but a bit off his rocker. I have seen others like that and its hard to ignore them but I work hard to do just that. I feel bad for people like that but know I can't help them.

That's one fellow who is dancing to the beat of a different drummer. As long as he wasn't carrying on with someone that wasn't there I guess we can just say he was just a weirdly behaved person. Well, At least he wasn't dangerous to others and provided some quirky entertainment? Good you told the manager to watch him though, just in case...

I wouldn't say anything to anyone. Except perhaps whoever I was dining with. I like watching people and have occasionally observed some pretty odd things.

I think I have been around people who have acted similarly....I didn't know how to react really either.

@CarolDM It definitely sounds very strange....there are some people that you just don't know about...whether they have issues or are on something....

It happened to me, I'm afraid of such people. With such, you never know what's next. If I were you, I would turn around and walk away, I would not even sit there
