Do you ever feel jealous seeing other healthy family relationships?

I have been reading a lot about families on here today, good and bad and anytime and it got me thinking about mine. I always was left out of my family, like they still haven't spelt my name right and I'm turning 25 this year so they clearly could have learned by now. They would skip big things for me like birthdays or graduation. For my wedding my cousin, who's wedding i went to, told me the day of she wasn't coming anymore, my grandma who said she was also told me the day of because she didn't want to be seen in a wheelchair as she went to other family members birthdays and parties in a wheelchair and those happen every year but couldn't come to my wedding and my dads side of the family said they dont make plans in the winter. So reading about other people having family issues helps me not feel so alone but then when I read a happy post it's like I'm happy for them but also a little jealous. Is it like that for anyone else on here?

Yeah that's true there's no perfect family, maybe more so supportive and present. When I see those kind I do feel a bit of envy. I'm sorry yours is also :/

no, because as much as i am for family, i dont like it when we are all together in the same place at the same time. one side is too serious and one side, the one im on, is usually very sophmoric.

@skydream - true, but people on both sides have to swallow some pride(ego).

I can understand that. My two sides of the family are extremely different. It'd be nice if one side could get all together though

it's like a seesaw here for me. once in a while, i read something about someone that tips the scale to the right, to the left. just to confirm there's something more under the surface.

Each family may have a problem here and there but blessed are those who stick together through thick and thin.

That's something I think I will feel bad if I have kids that they won't really see any aunt's or cousins

I think most people have challenges with extended family at some time point.

I agree it's just nice to see some families who always get together immedite or extended families and be able to overcome problems

I feel very blessed to have a close immediate family (my husband, our kids, grandkids, and a couple of friends), but our relatives are as dysfunctional as most. I'm sorry your relatives don't give you the care and love you deserve. For what it's worth, you have friends here on myLot who care very much about you.

I do a little. Especially when i see moms with daughters. But i try not to let it get to me too much.
