Around what age did you start reading the newspaper?

Reading newspapers is very beneficial for students as they become aware of the current affairs and newspaper also inculcates reading habits in them. My parents used to ask me to read them when I was around 10 but I never took much interest then, and started reading when I was 13.
It helped me increase my general knowledge a lot. In our school, we conduct quiz based on newspaper information. That encourages students to read papers.
Around what age did you start reading the newspaper?

I was in grade IV during our Social Studies.We had current events newpapers in our school.
That's also how I became interested in investigative journalism and truthful reporting.

I picked up reading magazine at very young age. However reading newspaper became a habit since Middle School.

@Sheali I don't really read the newspaper. Not because I don't have any interest in news. It's because I don't trust the media much. Newspapers, magazines, radio or television. A lot of it is lies or hearsay. I don't believe ALL are not reliable but I don't like how I feel when reading things. Always wondering if it's real or not so I usually stay away.
I think I was about 8 when I started flipping through a newspaper but that was usually to find the comics.
