Terrified

So, I don't get a lot of me time since Z2 came along, but the moms in my neighborhood had a get together last night. So I left the Zs home with hubs and went next door. After like an hour and a half he called and said she was inconsolable sad, and i should come home when I can. Begrudgingly I came home and tried to settle her and then I noticed she was burning up.
I took her temp with an ear thermometer and it read 101.4. For a neborn under 3 months you're supposed to go to the ER if a fever goes over 100.4 and we were a whole degree above that. And it was 11pm.
OF course i didn't have a rectal thermometer so I shot a text to my mom, go to CVS, get rectal thermometer and bring it here. which she did. I let Z2 lay on our bed and relax and waited for the thermometer to arrive.
Terrified that we were going to be in the ER in the middle of the night, Z1 would wake up to us gone and be sad and what was going ot happen to my brand new baby ???
but when the new thermometer arrived, her temp was 100.0 and so we were in the safe zone. I put her to bed and she slept 8 straight hours and we woke up to a temp of 98.7.
So while I was momentarily terrified, it all worked out in the end.

I am glad that the temperature went down. High temperatures are scary.
