Dugout Canoe Ride in Nepal

When we were near the Chitwan National Park in Nepal,we had excursions in the jungle a couple of times. One time was on an elephant ride, in the rain during the end of the monsoon season. Another was a trek through the upper reaches of the Bengal Jungle. Part of the tour was crossing a river in a dugout canoe. The end of the walk was through elephant grass about as tall as we were, and which we saw people in the area using mud to plaster their homes. A number of people on this jungle walk found leaches attached to their skin when we got back to our countryside hotel.

You had an authentic experience. I've wondered how exciting or scary riding way up on an elephant would be.

I rode on an elephant many years ago. I was scared because I was so high up but I did like it.

@ramapo17 Great fun, though the jungle, across streams

How interesting! It sounds like fun to me except for the leeches.

@ramapo17 I could not walk in tall grass, I do not even walk in my garden when the grass is too tall, I fear the snakes.

@LadyDuck I don't like the snakes either. Last year we had one in the yard just as I was about to go out and do some gardening. I hope this year none show up. I just might stay indoors all summer.

They were awful for the people who had them, but no serious result.

My daughter was in Nepal not so long ago, but didn't mention leeches. I wouldn't have liked them at all!
