Eye Exam

Getting to the mall where LensCrafters is located was a lot of fun with the many roads closed due to flooding. We took the long way to get there.
The exam went well. I do have a prescription change, especially for my left eye. As for the tearing, it's an easy fix. What it amounts to is a very long word I can't remember. However, I need to apply a very hot washcloth to my eye and massage twice a day and the problem will clear up in a couple of days.
I also put the check in the bank I received from the insurance for towing and was able to buy my glasses online for a very reasonable cost. My friend refuses my paying her back for the exam, which was also very reasonable. The total - eye exam and glasses came to $132.70. I ordered them online from Zenni. I'll have my new glasses in approximately 14 days. By then my eye will be back to normal.
I only bought two of the three pairs. I'll get the readers after payday. For now, I have the bifocals and computer glasses ordered. The only thing different this time is that both frames are the same. I'll need to pay attention to which pair I grab when leaving the computer. It will be easy to figure out as the bifocals will have the line.
I'm glad I got that taken care of and I know my eye is not infected or has major problems. I'll also see much better in two weeks or less.
How has your day been? Thanks for reading.

Remember when glasses were made while you waited? That must have been a very long time ago! We took my grandmother for her eye appointment and she walked out with new glasses at the end of the visit.

LensCrafters still does that. However, not for my prescription. My glasses always took two weeks. They are also very expensive. I'm very happy I found Zenni. They are so reasonable. The frames were 6.95 each. You can't beat that. The prescription brought up the cost, but that too is minimal.

@snowy22315 Wow! That's great! I've never had the eye doctor tell me the prescription was too strong. My eyes are deteriorating.

I'm glad you had a good day. With the insurance I have for glasses, I needed to find something affordable. I will never use Wal-Mart again for an eye exam. I trust LensCrafters and even though the eye doctor at Wal-Mart told me the ones I have would break, I went to them to adjust the bows, they haven't. I've had these for two years.

Thank you. So, am I. I was kinda hoping it was related to my cataracts, but it wasn't. I want that surgery. The good news on those is that they have advanced a little bit, so I'm closer to being blind in that eye and closer to the surgery. I know, it sounds weird that I would be happy about that. But they won't do the surgery until you're 75% blind. He actually showed me what my eyesight looks like on a picture by moving the scale for cataracts on it.

@just4him I have mild blepharitis which is an irritation to the eyes and that's what my eye doctor recommended too. Hot facecloth on it at night and in the morning. So I did try it as I forgot about it actually.

Glad your eye is not infected, or having a major problem. Sounds like a mostly easy solution. That is great you got some new glasses ordered. Last year my eyes had not changed enough to change my prescription which I was grateful for, but I am due for a visit soon.

@just4him That is wonderful news, and all good to hear :) And thank you. I am sure it will be fine. Just relieved they stopped doing the puff of air into the eye, that always made me not want to go.

Yes, they do, but their eye doctor doesn't know what he's doing - my experience. I'm sure it's not the same for all of them. The frames I got from Zenni were $6.95 each. With the prescription, it came to a very reasonable price.
I'm glad you got the wide frames you need.

This is very reasonable. I have been lucky to not need anything but readers myself since having my Cataract surgery so I just pay $1 plus Tax for a pair of readers from Dollar Tree.

I know lots of people who are very happy with Zenni. I would be surprised, however, if they could do my prescription. I know that the places that used to do them while you wait always told me mine would be twice the price and take ten days. I am glad you were able to get your eyes checked and new glasses.

They should. My prescription always took two weeks and sometimes they broke the lens getting it right. Thank you. It's going to be at minimum 14 days before I get them up to 21 days. I'll be glad when they arrive. I also need to order two other pairs of glasses. I thought it was only one pair, but the doctor included sunglasses in the prescription with the other three, and checked year round and driving. So, I need to get those and readers yet. That will be after payday. Sunglasses were never included in a prescription before, so I know it's necessary.

I can't wear my bifocals to work on the computer. So, I need computer glasses. I also need a pair of sunglasses, that I didn't notice until I took a good look at the prescription. The eye doctor never included sunglasses before, but I guess my cataracts are bad enough I need them to cut the glare when driving.

Lenscrafters commonly give eye exam free but when they say don't blink I would give it a go on the first try.
