Does anyone decorate their computer desktop for Christmas?

I usually change the wallpaper to a Christmas theme and also have a few Christmas icons of Santa, a snowman and a Christmas tree that I use. I have a different email signature for the occasion with Santa waving, and I even made a Christmas screensaver a few years ago. I realise that this is a little childish, but I still cannot resist it.

I have some little Christmas toys that I put on top of my monitor--a Rudolph the Reindeer figure with bendable arms & legs, Santa and reindeer wind-up toys, etc. They remind me that the holidays are coming and not to get too bummed out when I'm working at the computer all day.

I usually decorate the display to a large degree, but I have never decorated it physically by attaching toys or tinsel etcetera. I must admit that it sounds a fun idea and I like it.

It does not sound childish to me. I think it is pretty fun to change your desktop theme and wallpaper all the time especially during special occasion such as Christmas. I don't do that. I don't change my desktop theme and wallpaper. I guess I am too lazy to do that. Maybe someday in the future I might have this sudden urge to make a change as my desktop always seems dull. But I don't really mind that.

I do not actually use themes because they tend to offer many aspects other than the ones that I want. In fact, I have not used a theme on my computer for about 10 years now. Instead I simply change the wallpaper to a festive one and add a couple of icons.

There is nothing wrong with decorating your computer as it shows that you really enjoy the Christmas and holiday season. I think it is nice and may do that myself. Is there a good site to get nice christmas wallpaper for my computer.

Well that would be a start, but I was referring more to changing the display on the computer rather than physically decorating it.

This sounds like a Christmas theme, which is a simple way to get the same result. I have not used themes since many years ago when I was using Windows 98.

I will make my wallpaper a winter or Christmas theme. I have a Myspace account and I go all out with that. Christmas everything. Even falling snow! If you look at my mylot profile I have made it mostly blue because it reminds me of ice and snow. When it is closer to Christmas time I will change it to reds and greens. I have my own website and right now the template I have is a Winter holiday theme (snowmen and snowflakes). I will always have fun with the holidays!

This is great to hear. It makes life much more interesting to do that sort of thing, even if it takes more time and effort to change it.

Personally, I don't think I am going to change mine to a Christmas theme. I used to do that with one site I do, but I just usually now leave mine about the same.

There seem to be very few sites that actually change for Christmas, which I find surprising because I would have thought that it would make a difference.

From time to time I have been known to change my Screensaver and Desktop to match an Occassion. I have a Yahoo group I have run that I used to do this with as well. Lately I never take enough time to consider it anymore though.

Yes, it is easy to leave it and then the chance passes by, but I usually find it hard to resist.

I can't say that I've ever even thought about decorating my desktop. I've never used any wallpaper except the plain old blue. Maybe I'll give it a try sometime, because it does sound like more fun. Thanks for the suggestion!

That's a really good idea. I haven't thought of doing anything like that. I'll try it. You can do it for all holidays.

Yes, I agree that it is also suitable for other holidays. I must confess that I rarely bother at Easter or Halloween, although I do usually change my email signature at most festive times.

It is nice to know that I am not the only one who still does this. None of my friends or work colleagues seem to bother with such things.

That is quite surprising because I would have expected that the changing of the wallpaper at work would have given you the incentive to do the same at home.
