So, I bet nobody knows this song. It is from the album Bob Frank, by the artist Bob Frank. It came out in 1972 I think. It had a bit of a cult following. After that one album the artist was never heard from again on the music scene. I had a chance to meet him years later, and he apparently had a falling out with the record company and they would no longer promote his record, so he got a regular job and raised a family. The song is about his wife pawning her diamond ring so he could buy some weed. His wife (same one all these years later) said it was based on a true story, although her ring was not a diamond.
I used to hear Bob Frank's work on KFAT, a low power station out of Gilroy, California, and later, on KVMR, a public station in Nevada City. Pretty impressiv...

I'm glad you had a chance to meet him and learned he was still married to the same woman and the song reflected a true situation in his life.

They were fun to talk to, and his wife is a really nice lady.

Interesting story, surely many women (and men) did something similar.

Yes, I think it was something people could relate to.

That's pretty funny, in a number of ways. I like it.

Baby oh baby, don't take it so bad. You can't smoke a diamond anyway.

Looks like a good story... and the wife loves his husband so much that she would even support him on his weed?

I have a feeling she was also partaking of the weed, although might not have given up her rings without some nudging

Ahh, everybody was smoking some weed back then. We weren't all bad.
