There are so many great songs with "eyes" (or a variation) in the title that I couldn't just limit it to ten, so I broke the countdown into two segments: songs that are obscure, and hits. Here on the hit side, I'm keeping things in the late 60s/early 70s where I started yesterday. Here's today's oldie goldie.
#9: Temptation Eyes - Grass Roots
The Grass Roots were formed by a record producer and included songwriter P.F. Sloan (best-known for writing Johnny Rivers' "Secret Agent Man" and Barry McGuire's "Eve of Destruction"). Sloan left quickly, and the band -- such as it was (it was mostly the famed L.A. session group the Wrecking Crew playing the instruments) -- continued on.
Their success didn't last long, but some of their hits -- including this one, along with "Two Divided By Love" -- remain favorites of mine.

The Grass Roots made quite an impact in their short period of time. Temptation Eyes is my all-time Roots favorite. And I would be remiss if I didn't also mention Let's Live For Today, Sooner or Later, and Midnight Confessions. Guitarist Creed Bratton had a short lived career with the band, but had the last laugh when he was part of the cast of the successful TV sitcom "The Office."
