this was a recent news in the Philippines. That is a huge amount of plastic. It just shows that we really need to manage our plastic disposal properly. Some malls use paper on some days and also biodegradable plastics... but in the end it is in the disposal of garbage that matters. Many people here still throw garbage in the sea.

Many of us know that there is a continent of plastic in the sea the size of Australia. That´s what we do

Yeah, I did hear about some garbage being recycled to become blocks to build houses.. they should develop that.

I just wish everyone can be responsible where they disposed their garbage. I hope that the government have a clear law about this and also at home we can teach our children to be responsible about the matter.

Yeah, all the government does is put signs near the streets without actually informing them where to dump their garbage. Some lazy people just leave it on the road.

@lady1993 I have been here in Florida just a short while and I do not know how polluted the beach here is. I have not seen any garbage washed ashore so perhaps it is not so bad right here.

I also read about whales that swallowed too much plastic!! They need to clean up the waterways and collect all that plastic and recycle it!! A shift to biodegradable plastics is a very good idea!!

Some malls already have this bio plastic, maybe they are expensive to make or something since other malls don't follow.

@lady1993 Maybe they would get scared if someone special to them got hurt by it.

It is so sad that marine resources are very much affected by improper waste disposal particularly plastics.
