An update if anyone is interested on my knee situation. I fell last week and injured both knees. I wrote a post about it. I have been waiting, hoping the next day will bring improvement. I have been getting up at night with pain and nothing was getting better, so I decided to go to the doctor. My primary doctor referred me to an orthopedic doctor. Just got home after an appointment with him today.
After x-rays, my orthopedic doctor told me I have what appears to be torn cartilage (meniscus) and possible torn tendons in both knees. I would need an MRI to get more details. But for now he said to give it two more weeks to see if it will heal on its own.
His instructions were called Paying the PRICE - Protect, Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. I am to see him in two weeks if I am not better.
At least I know a little more now that what I did. And I am hoping I will start to see improvement. He said when you tear cartilage and/or tendons it takes time to heal. Usually 4-6 weeks, but depending on if I follow his advice. And I will do just that.
Never had any injury to my knees. I hope none of you have either. It is very painful to injure both knees at the same time. Hoping for better days soon.
Sharing a dessert photo from O'Charley's today. Wednesday is free pie day. I got a slice of caramel pie with whipped cream. Very sweet but delicious. This was my little celebration for a good report from the doctor.
Enough of that. How about this first day of spring! It is a beautiful sunshine day.
I will catch up on notifications later. Going to get the ice for now and take a break.

I hope that by following the doctors orders you heal and won't need any further treatment.

@CarolDM being grounded for a short period of time is better than a lifetime of bad knees

At least you know what is going on now..Knowledge is power. The pie looks good, one of the agencies I mystery shop for always has O'Charley's shops..but they pay in gift cards instead of cash..so, not that interested..but I have only eaten at O'Charley's once..so wouldn't mind trying it again.

@CarolDM I thought it was pumpkin. I am glad you said it was caramel. That sounds even better.

I am glad it wasn't any worse and that it doesn't seem to require any surgery. I've had to protect my knees from injury with knee pads. I've had family who have had to have abcesses drained off their knees, others who have had to have knee replacement surgery.
Knees are delicate little things.

Some recommend cold rather than ice or putting a light towel between the ice and your knees. I have a pliable thing that can be put in the freezer or microwave, but i only freeze that one. I find if it's too cold to wait ten minutes and then I can more easily manage it directly on my knees or ankle if needed.
My right knee has been inflamed enough that it sticks out lately, so I've begun icing it more than I was before this. I had to ice my knee that got replaced two years ago for quite a few months before I had the surgery, so I shouldn't be surprised that I need to do that again. I also elevate it when I'm not working.
I actually sprained both my knees when I fell on them some years ago. I've no idea what the difference is. I also never heard of spraining them before that, but recently heard of someone else that was also told she sprained her knees too.
If you continue to rest and elevate them, I'm sure you'll do fine.

@CarolDM No the knee that's already been replaced is doing great, but I did have to ice it prior to surgery. The one waiting for surgery this coming June never was that bad until more recently. I was supposed to have it replaced last summer but had a wound that wasn't healing and so we had to wait.
I've used bags of frozen peas before too and that worked quite well at the time, but then my husband is afraid to eat any frozen veggies as he thinks they've all been thawed and refrozen more than once when they weren't.

I actually take frozen peas and wrap it in a towel, that seems to work. So you had a knee replacement and still having problems? Ice really helps as long as you sit and have the ice not here. That is the frustrating part. I like to stay busy. Thank you for sharing.

@MarshaMusselman He may be right about the veggies. I use the same bag and we never thought about eating them. Good luck with your surgery.

Spring has come to Canada and its nice to see no snow and feel the warmth from the sun. I hope you knees get well soon, I know what it feels to be in pain with knees. I needed to have new knees but its a Family thing, so i had two new knees put in my knees..

I am so sorry to hear that report about your knees. On a better note, our son had the same thing due to his heavy exercise programs. He followed the same orders as you were given and is back exercising as usual. You certainly deserve that delicious looking pie! Happy healing now!

Sorry to hear that, but at least I don't think that's serious enough to undergo major medical procedures. I hope you follow doctor's advice and of course think of the PRICE.
