Last Tuesday I had planned to get to an appointment, get that done by noon, be home and work on the homestead and play with the dogs.
But..... Once I got Tony to his doctor, well, after his echocardiogram they called me back, this is not normal. I went back and the doctor told me that he is admitting him to the hospital, across the tunnel, because the fluid around his heart was crushing his heart.
Emergency surgery was done by noon on Tuesday. The surgery was to install a drain tube into the lining of his heart. Tuesday night was a bad night, he was in pain and all the people kept me up, I think I slept 2 solid hours on the hard roll out chair.
All I had with me was a book, this one time I did not take my tablet with me.
So, on Wednesday morning he was better, the pain was less at the hole where the pipe is hanging out and thy insisted he sit in the chair all day, he had to walk several time, with pipe hanging out of his chest. He is also eating.
One thing he can do 100% better and that is breathing.
Since I knew he was doing great I drrove an hour back home, loaded the dog feeder and gave them a couple gallons more water, took a shower, let the cat hang out with me while I cleaned the house a little. And I got my laptop so here I am.
I drove back to this hospital for another night of torture, me and this hard sleeping thing and these people waking him every hour.
After hearing the nurse say the new echo was clear, he may get out tomorrow, I sure hope so but I got the house set, dog feed out and cat feed out.
And all you people thought I was having fun!
But our rich kin folk did come by to check on him and did offer me, or us, the rental house for a week, one block from the beach in Florida. In May so I think I will book it and have me a rest.

Hopefully when he returns home again he won't need that pipe in his chest any longer? I've never heard of that one before.
A week at the beach sounds nice. Will Tony be able to make the trip there with you? Have they let you use their place in the past before this?
I've stayed in a hospital chair before with my mom, but that time they had a small couch. Not the most comfortable since I'm longer than it was, but I was able to sleep some anyway.

@andriaperry I'm glad the pipe won't be staying on him. That would be hard to work with. A pic line is bad enough and we've worked with those for my husband in the past.

@MarshaMusselman Tony`s brother had a pic line for chemo, when Tony began treatments he refused to have one.

When he goes home, no pipe, it a one time thing and the lining should be back in tact.
I had the option if owning 6 three bedroom houses in Florida, a very nice area, I would have had to take care of a retard 55 year old man, that does not like to wear clothes, loves to flash people and is not very clean. I declined. Aint nothing worth giving up my life for all that. Yes I have stayed in this rental many time.

Wow! That was a close call. Glad that things seem to be out of the danger zone. Hopefully all will go well and you will both go back to a regular life.

That's not the story I thought you were going to share. I'm glad Tony is doing better and hope he gets released soon.
Getting to spend some time in Florida sounds just like what you need.

Oh that sounds really rough. My poor kitty went through a similar thing with his heart ailment..but not much could be done..I did have the fluid drained from his chest cavity a few times. I am glad Tony can breathe better now..and by all means go to Florida for a break. It will good for both of you.

Different in humans, fluid stays in the lining of the heart, not in the chest cavity.

I’m so sorry. I’m glad he’s doing better. Do remember to care for yourself. Lots of people don’t realize that the person having the medical issue isn’t the only one needing prayer.

Yes I need to just say no to all work for a whole week, in May, and enjoy life. It will be hard to leave the homestead to just be but that is what I will do.
He is 100% better today.

@andriaperry We haven't gone anywhere since 2000 -- except for a 3-day trip. A week in FL sounds like heaven. I would go to the Florida Keys.

By May Tony will be able to enjoy a break too, I hope. I am glad they did not mess around but took care of the fluids quickly. I agree, sleeping in a hospital chair and waking up all the time is the pits. You do know he was not ignored, though.

Yikes, and here I thought that you were working.
Waiting and worrying is still working.
I am glad that they caught this and were able to fix it so quickly.
And with the thoughts of a week away coming up I am sure that you are both set for this chapter to be done and over with. I hope that he heals quickly and that in the morning he is discharged, we all heal better at home.

It is hard when one is at the hospital; it's good he will be discharged soon, and you can have that vacation by the beach.
