A conveyor belt sushi restaurant

Some days ago my husband and I visited a sushi restaurant. The sushi dishes are placed on a rotating conveyer belt next to the tables. When we see a dish that we want to eat we take it from the conveyer belt. Most of the dishes are different kinds of sushi, but they also have other kinds of dishes like small Chinese dishes. In the past I didn't really like sushi. I prefered other kinds of Asian food, but I decided to give it one more chance and try some of the dishes. When we visited the restaurant I actually enjoyed the food. I like uramaki the most, but I have also eaten some of the others. My husband only likes a few of them, so he combined it with the Chinese dishes. Did you ever visit a conveyer belt restaurant? What kinds of restaurants do you like?

We do not have conveyer belt restaurants. Mainly I like local restaurants that serve the fish from our lakes. I can prepare sushi, it takes a bit of time, but it's not difficult.

We don't have many local restaurants that serve fish, at least not in my area. In the north of Denmark there are several of them. I often visit them when I am in that part of the country, but they are popular and it is not easy to get a table there. I have never tried to make my own sushi, but sushi restaurants have become quite popular here.

@LadyDuck Sushi restaurants have also become very popular here. In the biggest city on my island there are so many of them .Some of the other great restaurants that existed in the past have disappeared. There used to be a great Indonesian place, but it is gone.

Here the conveyer belt restaurants are a relatively new thing. In the past we only had restaurants where the waiters served the food. I enjoyed my visit to that restaurant. The tables are right next to the conveyer belt so when we see a dish that we want to eat we just take it when it passes our table.

@Shivram59 Maybe they will become popular in India one day. We don't have to wait for the food, and that is a good thing when we are hungry. My husband and I enjoyed our time there.

I love most kinds of food but sushi happens to be one of my favourites. I love the conveyor belt types. I've only ever been to one of them, though (well, two but they were the same chain but in different places). I did like that. I especially liked that they have colour-coded dishes depending on the price! I really like raw fish/meat (sashimi) which puts a lot of people off because they don't realise that sushi isn't just raw fish. My sister, who doesn't like fish at all, likes cucumber and mooli sushi). There are other sushi restaurants I have visited. Some have the conveyor belt but only at certain times, not when I've been. I like buffet/all you can eat places, especially as I have two teenage boys - they certainly ensure I get my money's worth!

@Porcospino it's great for me because I never know what I want! And I love the chance to try different things. Most of our buffet style places have a set price. I think it's just the one that has the different prices but there are 5 or 6 colours and it depends on the type of dish (eg dumplings are cheaper and sashimi is most expensive).

@pumpkinjam That is the thing I love about it. It is nice to try different things. The Chinese restaurant that we visit has a very big buffet. There are meat dishes, vegetables, sushi and many other things.

I love the conveyer belt restaurants, too. It is a nice way to try different kind of food. Here we don't pay for each dish. We pay a fixed amount (similar to a buffet) and then we can eat as much as we want. I liked all of them. My husband doesn't like sushi that much. He chose some of the dishes with salmon, and combined them with the Chinese dishes on the conveyer belt. Buffet restaurants are nice. I like them, too. We have a very nice Chinese buffet restaurant in my area. My husband, and I visit it with our friends sometimes.

I have never visited any such restaurant with conveyor belt. But once I have seen it at one of the marriage reception. I have never tried sushi. I am a bit skeptical about it as I read some where that if it is not done properly by a professional, it can actually make you sick.

I have never had any problems after eating it, but I think that it could be a problem if it isn't done properly. The rules about restaurant kitchens are extremely strict here, and I think it is a very good thing. Most of our restaurants don't have conveyor belts, I have only seen it in the sushi restaurants.

@arunima25 I understand what you mean. I got ill during our trip to Asia (probably because of something I ate) and it is not a fun way to spend a vacation. We were quite careful when we chose which places to eat, but I still got sick. Your vacation in Tokyo sounds interesting. I have never been to Japan, but I would love to visit the country one day.

@Porcospino I am a vegetarian by choice and very occasionally try chicken and fish. I am a little worried because sometimes I have got stomach upset after having them. Moreover sushi is not fully cooked. I was in Tokyo and thought of trying it but didn't want to get sick on a vacation. My husband visits Japan for his business trips and he has tried it and liked it. He is a non vegetarian.

I didn't eat much sushi in the past, but I have started to like it, and I really enjoyed my visit to that restaurant. I also love Thai food and Indian food. I would love to try Korean food, but there aren't any Korean restaurants in my country.
