What Kind Of MyLot Posts Are Included In The List ‘Interesting Discussions’ ?

When I click on ‘Explore’ in the top bar of the screen, I find seven items. I can understand six of them. The first, however, has always puzzled me. Today I’ve decided to try to find an answer. I hope that someone can enlighten me.
I don’t know how many posts are written in the course of 24 hours. My guess is several dozens on average. Who or what decides which of them are ‘interesting’? When I joined the site, I thought that the number of reads makes a post ‘interesting’. Yet, from what I’ve learnt from my own experience I know that this is definitely not the case.
When I clicked on the list the first time, I couldn’t believe my eyes! I thought I had clicked on my own list of ‘My Discussions’ by mistake! I saw so many of my discussions that I could get the impression to be the most interesting writer on the site. Unfortunately, this is not the case which is proved by my meagre earnings.
Today I’ve had another look at this mysterious list. I’ve checked the last twenty ‘Interesting Discussions’ and found that 15 are from me! Sounds nice, doesn‘t it? I’m flattered. I feel my belly tickled - as the Germans say. I wonder, however, why this doesn’t fill my piggy bank more. Do other members never check the list and feel enticed to read what is advertised as ‘interesting’? If this is the case, what is the list for?
Or am I the only one who sees this very list - in other words - does each member see different posts in the list ‘Interesting Discussions’? But it would be strange to inform me that my posts are interesting, wouldn‘t it? I know that already.

Pixabay offered me this photo when I wrote ‘discussion’ into the search bar.

I think that the interesting discussions are based on the tags you use the most. For instanse if you write a lot about books you will see your own book discussions as well as book discussions written by other people. The list of interesting discussions is different from the other lists - everyone sees a different list, because we don't read/write about the same topics.

'Interesting' brings up only my posts too. I think it is to do with the tags. Since I add 'Western Australia' in all my posts as a tag it thinks I'll be interested in posts with WA in them. It just so happens they're all mine. That's my story anyway,

Haha nice. It is weird when your own posts come up as interesting...Mine never has. But I do notice that a lot of the "interesting discussions" ARE topics I write a lot about, books, travel, health, cooking, etc. It's kind of weird. Oh, and yours popped up as well!

@hereandthere Oh, okay. To find out what people on myLot don't want to see, visit the posts with no answers section. If a post has been there for days with no answer, you know that is not something that myLotters are interested in.

The list for me is primarily posts about food, health, and the 30 Day Song Challenge. . . all things that I've been writing about lately. Maybe the list is different for every person based on what topics they write about and/or interact with.

Interesting discussions brings up a variety for me. Some are my own discussions. Perhaps some of yours are especially interesting and popular - or, perhaps, contain the right words or content that is picked up by an algorithm (I have no idea, I'm just pretending to know what I'm talking about)!
I have wondered what constitutes an 'interesting' discussion. Sometimes it makes sense if, for example, there are discussions from people whose discussions I've interacted with or if it's related to something I've done. Others, though, seem to include 'Coke or Pepsi' type discussions. Perhaps it is, as some other people have said, because of the tags.
This discussion came up in my Interesting Discussions.

I am not sure why I see some of my posts.

because it depends on the tags that you use. what you see in your interesting list is different from what i see in mine

@hereandthere That makes sense. But why do I see my own posts in the list?

You've now got me thinking. No, I don't think we all see the same list. I'm sorry to say this, but I don't recall seeing your posts in the interesting list. And yes, like you, mine are always there. You've opened up something interesting here! Clever observation.

I believe it is based on the subjects you write about, and more specifically, the words you use in your tags. Since I write a lot of posts about music, and a lot of other myLotters do too, I get a lot of posts about music in my "Interesting" list.
So, if you are the only person writing about a particular subject, you would be the only person on your list.

I've seen many of my own discussions in the Interesting Discussions list and wondered why they are there... I've heard someone say that each person gets different discussions in Interesting Discussions. Don't remember what determines if a discussion makes it onto that list. Maybe the tags used have something to do with that.

I don't know what the formula/ae is/are. Maybe the group is right about the tags. I don't know. BTW, I love your giraffe picture. I think they are fascinating creatures.
I just checked my "Interesting Discussions" and found 9 of the 12 that I have posted; so I don't know WHAT the answer is!

@LindaOHio , That is a good reason to be here. Without this form of social media we might not know so many from other parts of the world. We have myLot to thank for this great opportunity to learn from each other and have fun doing it.

I am actually happy now, that I know I am not the best writer at myLot. I am an average writer at best and would be very bored if my posts were all there were here. I hate to read my own discussions and prefer to read others posts here.

Yes, I find this odd. I see a lot of my own discussions listed at the top and yet I feel like that could not be the case. If so, myLot needs more writers to give better variety. The featured posts of other sites would be the same category myLot has for it's Top Rated Discussions and I figure those are the ones with the highest numbers of responses.
