Hurry Up & Wait

That seems to be the way things happen these days. I had to be in traffic court on Wednesday. Court opens at 8:20 am here but there is always a line. I left the house soon after the kids got on the school bus. I got there early enough to find a parking spot (thankfully) I saw folks driving around waiting for someone to leave. I got there and of course, had to stand in line. They finally opened the courtroom at 8:45 and let us in. It was nice that they called the names alphabetically instead of first come first serve. I got my case continued and have to go back next month. It often seems that in life we are hurrying up to get somewhere and once we get there we end up waiting. It seems like a waste of time but in most cases, I guess it is a must. What do you think?

being so badly disabled, i think it is terrible. it's why i dread so bad going out to a doctor, cause i can't sit up long and get extremely tired , sore, and hurt so bad. and now i have to sit up in my wheel chair and not sure how that is going to go next week when i have to visit the digestive specialist.

@bunnybon7 I feel for you. I hope the appointment with the digestive specialist went ok. How are you doing? I cannot imagine having to wait for so long while being so uncomfortable at the same time. to you!

This is especially true at the airports, rush to the gate and then wait because your flight is delayed.

@LadyDuck I don't like to fly! I avoid airports if at all possible! I can't imagine having to wait for delays these days! It would be horrible and having to get there so early to get through security checks.

@Shellyann36 I hated long International flights, the few time our fly was canceled and we had to move from airport to airport before reaching final destination was a real pain.

I agree with you, sometimes people pass me by, and I end up catching up with them, then I wonder what was the hurry.

@popciclecold As I get older I find this to be true as well. I must admit that in the end, I am glad I got there early enough to get a decent seat in the courtroom.

I agree with you. The worst part is when I accidentally get to a doctors appointment a little late and they mention that I'm late ........ but then I think why the heck was my appointment at 10am and they didn't see me until noon? I guess it's ok for them to make us wait.

@rebelann Little Keith needs ear surgery and he was supposed to have it last year. It was canceled twice by the doctor's office. First was for the doctor, he ended up having spine surgery and was out for 3 months. We reschedule and the day before the surgery they canceled due to the pending hurricane (which we did have). I am going to reschedule it for this year and I am changing doctors as well.

I just wish they'd stop giving the excuse that an emergency came up and they had to attend to it before getting to me 2 hours after my appointment @Shellyann36 and it's always that way. I'd go into shock if I walked in and was seen within 10 minutes of my appointment.

@BelleStarr normally when I go somewhere that I know I am going to be waiting I try to take something to do that will keep me entertained, a book or something of the sort but I didn't have any books on hand when I went this time around.

I have line-aphobia, I just cannot stand in line, I get frustrated, break out into a sweat, start to feel the walls closing in. Kidding, I do really really dislike it though and try to avoid it at all costs.

@DianneN This is true. I guess each individual has to make their own fun while they wait. I wish they allowed phones and devices such as kindles in our local county courthouse! I would have enjoyed reading while waiting.

I've found it takes the same amount of time to do something whether you hurry with it, and end up doing it over because you didn't do a good job of it, or do it slowly and do it right. Slow is best.

@Hannihar My sister likes to sell things on FB and Craigslist and she does not like to have strangers come to her home, so she will meet them in public places much as you did. On numerous occasions, it has been a waste of time because the people did not buy what she was selling. I am sorry the lady rushed you. She seems rather rude. Did she end up buying the item from you?

@Shellyann36 Your sister is very wise to do it. Does she sell a lot. I have some things on craigslist now and I did them again. I used to sell calendars on facebook and really did not sell many so do not do that anymore. The lady was very rude. Yes she bought it. I needed the money. I do not do that anymore but I saw her somewhere after that.

Every situation is different. It's mostly Dr type visits where we try not to be late and end up waiting. It's always good to be at work or meetings on time. A lot depends on who, what, where. If you were to late you may have missed the roll call so that worked for you both ways. Have you shared why your even at court?
