Do you or have you ever slept on the floor?

I'm considering sleeping on the floor for a few nights to hopefully make my back a bit more straighter as well as helping with back pain. I have slept on the floor many times but I've always have thick blankets and pillows underneath to make it more comfortable.
But I would like to try laying down as flat as I can. I've heard it can help with back pain to which I suffer with often. I remember years ago when I was in Sydney visiting my Nan, the bed there was so hard which made it difficult to sleep but I didn't have any back pain the whole time I was there. Which was great.
Have you ever slept on the floor to straighten your back or do you use any other techniques to help with back pain? Would love to hear any suggestions.

Yes. When I was young. I used to stay at my Aunt's house during summer and she only had a mat to sleep on. I get used to it eventually. And oh, fun memories too.

Filipinos for centuries have slept on the foor using a wooven fabric called " banig ", it's fun to sleep and play on it when I was a child, I loved it so much that I prefer to sleep on it instead of my cushioned bed. There were times my parents would carry me and transfer me to the bed after falling asleep while playing lol.

@louievill I've not heard about banig before but I feel like there's a chance I may have seen it in movies. awwww! That's so cute lol

@VivaLaDani13 I wish I could send you one, it has a distinct smell like dried leaves lol, disinfecting it is easy, just put it out in the sun. When we were in kindergarten, each of us were required to bring a banig to school with our names on it, we slept during the one and a half hour break lol, really fun

@kepweng I'm not sure what ones but I have seen movies where certain people lay down on things that sound like what @louievill is talking about.

We have added a piece of plywood underneath the mattress to make it firmer but if you can sleep on the floor it may help.

@BelleStarr How have you found the bed ever since doing that? Has it been beneficial for you or caused any issues?

I do a lot of camping, so I've got plenty of experience sleeping on the hard ground. And I was a crazy drunk college student at one point, which meant many nights of passing out on the floor!
I would toss and turn a lot on the floor, I'm sure, but maybe it wouldn't be so bad if I had a good pillow for proper neck support. But I can tell you, sleeping on the floor may be one thing, but I wouldn't advice engaging in any hanky-panky on the floor, that's not very comfortable at all!

@VivaLaDani13 Although in the heat of passion, you may not notice how uncomfortable the floor is, but you will certainly feel it afterward! You know, once the euphoria of climax wears off!

@moffittjc True to some extent. Though, shower floor tiles aren't always nice on the knees. That can hurt a bit after a little bit of time.

@MommyOfEli2013 oh ok! This is the second comment like yours and I'm worried it means something sad. Not prying! Just don't know how to take it. I hope that's not due to what I'm thinking.

@VivaLaDani13 Not sad in my case....my cousins and I would stay at my grandmothers house, but there were only 3 beds lol. So us kids would sleep on the floor.

We are sleeping on the floor but with a thick mattress. I use to sleep in hard wood bed. Maybe you should check your position

I have slept on the floor but not for back pain. We did buy a different bed which is a nurtural bed so it’s in between a very soft bed and very firm bed al it’s almost like your floating in space.

@hereandthere Yeah it's hard to sleep on the side on the floor. I am the same as you. I mainly prefer the side but definitely can't do that on the floor. Not comfortable.

@VivaLaDani13 -- no. I was a kid, what did I know?
It could be why I like hard-as-rock mattresses now, though.

I HAVE slept on the floor many times, mostly when I visit friend's houses for large music parties. I can't say it helps or hurts my back. Two things I do for my back are: hanging from my chinning bar and swinging my legs, to stretch things our and strengthen my "core;" and rolling my hips and legs over one of those hard "rollies" on the floor.

@TheHorse If I had one of those bars I would do that often. I do stretch my back often. In fact I love stretching my whole back often because it feels good. I think I know what you mean about the hard rollies thing. But I'm not 100% sure I'm thinking of what you're talking about.

@TheHorse oh ok! Gotcha! I don't have those but I use other things like a basketball or roll a pillow and lay back to stretch it. Or hang over the side of my bed lol
Also, sometimes I lay on my back, and roll backwards a bit to where my feet are over my head. I'm pretty flexible so while I do that I can stretch my back a bit more.

I have slept on the floor many times. I used to nap in the floor with the little gas heater to my back, keeping me warm. I also have a harder bed.
Now I have a teeter hang up that helps my back, I also use the amazing roll on pain relief, bio freeze, I used to buy it from the chiropractor now its at walmart.

@andriaperry I can imagine. I can't comment. Sometimes I hang off the side of my bed but it's not as steep as what the teeter can do. Sometimes mine get in the way of being comfortable if I'm laying on my stomach. Sometimes I wish we could detach parts for awhile lol

@TiarasOceanView Sorry about the back problems. I used to have this foam memory pillow but it didn't feel too comfortable for my neck. I seem to struggle getting my neck comfortable sometimes when trying to sleep.
