Growing old together

My last trip to the US. Not evident from the photo, this couple sitting on a bench on the Santa Monica Pier enjoying the sunset looked to be in their 70's. I always find it heart warming to see an old couple who have been through life together and still enjoying each other's company. A best friend to grow old with is what we all hope for but sadly few marriages survive the passing of centuries these days.

I'm thankful for the husband I've had for 53 years. It hasn't all been rainbows, but we love each other more each day.

My parents were together for 60's years until my Mom passed away. Maybe it is a generational thing?
