This is a photo of my Mam and Dad on their first date. It was a blind date. His friend knew her friend and they had never met before that night. It was taken on the famous O Connell Bridge in Dublin City centre in 1959. There was a famous photographer who used to take pictures of people walking over the bridge and then send them by post to the people for a fee. There was no digital cameras in those days. They went to the pictures after that was taken. They married just over a year later. Sadly Dad died in 1993 but mum is still here. She loves that picture.

@amadeo Sadly no. I love that coat and the shoes. I also love the long coat on my dad. Those coats were called Crombies and made of pure wool. Quite an investment in those days. My dad always had a good coat in his wardrobe and a good suit. The last Cromby he had before he passed was grey and I bought it for him.

I love that picture. I love when people can show me those kinds of pictures of real history. Not the stuff you read in textbooks.
