What's your comfort food?

I am craving for some mashed potatoes with fried chicken patties and a tomato sour cream salad. That's comfort food for me and will be my lunch today.
The chicken patties are already cooked so all I need is to warm them up. I don't have mashed potatoes though so am making those right now. I usually use Idaho potatoes for that but the only thing I have at home are baby potatoes. Hopefully, that will work.
I am starving and can't wait to dive into the food. Hopefully, the potatoes won't take that long to cook as they are small.
What did you have/will have for lunch today?

I've already had lunch, it's 4 pm here, we eat dinner around 5 to 5:30.
I had fried chicken done in a tangy sauce, potato salad and mac and cheese. I also had some of my friend's collard greens, we went out to eat.
Comfort food is pretty much anything that is bad for me.

That sounds delicious. Hubby always works late so my dinner is usually very late. It can be anywhere between 9pm and midnight. So I try to have lunch around this time.

@lovebuglena Oh okay. I try not to eat past 7, but that's only because I used to work third and had such a weird eating schedule. I still do if I am telling the truth. Some days I don't eat until 5 pm.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I don't like to eat very late and only do because I want to have dinner with hubby not alone and late is the only time it happens, most of the time.

I do not like bean soup but I've tried some at restaurant and enjoyed them. Perhaps it depends on how the bean soup is prepared.

@lovebuglena The baby potatoes absorb less milk than the others.

@LadyDuck Oh, didn't know that. Thought maybe I just poured more than I should have.

They turned out a bit liquid because I added more milk than I should have but the taste was still good.

Pinto beans, corn bread or other bread, with butter is my main comfort food. What will I have today for lunch? I haven't thought about it so far. I hope I can find something. Might go get chicken from Church's Chicken. They have 2 piece deals on Tuesday. Meantime I am on a coffee / tea break.

@lovebuglena , My wife knows how to prepare and cook pinto beans well. I myself learned at a very early age when my mother taught me to first separate the rocks from the beans, as they sometimes have actual rocks, tiny rocks in the beans. Rinse the beans well and let sit overnight in a covered pan of water. No salt is added until after they are served on the plate. Salt added early while the beans are cooking will make them very tough and hard so the way to make them creamy and dreamy, you have to wait to add salt after they are fully cooked. Onions, garlic, bacon grease and salt and pepper and a few other spices make pinto beans a very good thing to eat IMO.

@lookatdesktop If I ever get beans I actually get canned Goya ones. No need to cook them and I like that because i don't think I'd do well with raw beans. But maybe I just underestimate myself.

I am not sure I've ever tried pinto beans. I am not really a fan of beans and don't really eat them but I've started craving for beans recently and from time to time eat them. They are actually not as bad as I thought them to be.

@lovebuglena My husband doesn't like it so I make it just for me in the rice cooker. For some reason, you don't often see it on menus here.

I like rice pudding. If I see it on a menu at a restaurant I get that for dessert.

Any kind of potato, ice cream, pizza - those are my comfort foods. I had one piece of pizza for lunch today and an 80-calorie container of yogurt.

I don't remember the last time I had yogurt. I have to get back into eating it as it's good and healthy.

@lovebuglena I really like the Greek yogurt. It's thicker and nice and creamy.

Idaho and potatoes seem to be synonyms. Once I saw a group of American professors in the National Gallery in London. They had a good guide and I asked if I could join them which they allowed. They all had t-shirts on with the same drawing. It showed the starting point of their European tour and two highlights.
Starting point: Idaho / drawing: a potato
First stop: Paris / drawing: Eiffel Tower
Second stop: London / drawing: Tower Bridge
Funny!
