How do I?

I have a dilemma and I need your opinion so I would know what to do next....
I am working full time in a foreign accounting firm who has an office here. We don't have proper management here since the once in-charge of Finance is also doing Accountant's task. The person does not know how to delegate tasks. I have been asking for additional tasks since I get bored easily, but she always say we don't have any available task. But she keeps on complaining that she is very busy.
Now...how do I tell her nicely that she needs to delegate the task so that I won't get bored and she won't get swamped with work?

She trusts me. She gave me tasks before that is way beyond my level. I guess she was just overwhelmed

maybe you can volunteer and help her.. then later you should tell her in passing that it might be good to delegate work to others.

Certainly you can offer to help her when the complains, but being busy makes some people feel important. Also, some people are very controlling, so if you would not do the task exactly the way she does it she would feel like it is wrong.

Hahaha yeah I experienced that. But all is well now. She passed on some of the task to me already

There are people who just do not want to delegate tasks. Could be that they don't have that much trust in you, or afraid you soon will replace them. As long as you get paid fine just go lotting.

i see from the responses and comments that she already gave you other tasks. let's hope she remembers to do that the next time she's swamped so they can be finished on time.

That is a difficult question. My thought is to just simply have a talk with her and explain how you feel and see what she says.

Would a simple "May I Help You" work?
