Yep, I'm from the northern beaches (Manly - Palm Beach) .... after growing up there, I've been in WA for the last 25 years and haven't been back.
I loved Sydney and all it had to offer but I'd much prefer the country life I have these days. On my farm here in the west is the wtg and it is terrific for bringing up your kids .... I doubt if Sydney can compare with all that we have here.

dont think i could live in the country, and not planning on having kids so don't need to worry about that
And AFL is a crazy australian sport!

btw .. .. .. the best part about Sydney is their AFL footy team . . . "The Mighty Sydney Swans"

I'm sorry to hear that you may miss out on 2 of the most incredible experiences of my life ... they being #1 having a family and #2 country life and it's values.
I was in the fast lane in Sydney and had to get out ... I'll one day venture back for a visit but I know that it has all changed and not necessarily for the better.

I was born in Auburn, which is a suburb of Sydney, and lived in the area until I was 13.
Hubby & I went there last year for our 10th anniversary.
We loved the powerhouse museum, the aquarium.
We were lucky as we got to see the Sydney Swans play Geelong Cats in an AFL final, and we saw the basketball at the Sydney Entertainment Centre as well.

Hi
I have not been, but my daughter has, and she bought me back a lovely picture of the harbour.
She said it was lovely, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
She was amazed at the difference in the house prices compared to the UK
Even thought about moving there with her husband!!!An interesting fact for you......
Syney Harbour is the BIGGEST natural harbour in the WORLD!Where we live in England (Near Poole) we have the SECOND largest natural harbour in the World.....
It is the BIGGEST in Europe!!Have a nice day

Do you mean the house prices are cheap? or expensive?
There's no way we could afford to buy a house here, unless we lived way out west or miles away from the city

We usually go there a couple of times a year for appointments, but unless we are visiting friends then it is a case of drive to the inner suburbs, park the car and then catch a bus into the city. As soon as appointment finished, back on the first bus and out of there.
Actually there are so many things to see and do in Sydney for people who are interested. Our son wants to do the Bridge Climb but I told him he has to stay home here in Australia for a while first. LOL

I lived in Sydney most of my life....out near Parramatta and Blacktown....moved to sunny QLD 8 years ago and best thing I did....I went back for a holiday in september and it has all got so busy down there and so big. Still love the zoo and taking the kids there and on the monorail.

hi juice, I have visited Sydney twice, but unfortunately they were both quick visits, like a couple of nights. But what I did see I really enjoyed, the Opera House, Bondi Beach (it looks bigger on tv)etc., ferry to Manly etc. Hope your friend moves down, watch out Sydney!
