It's that time again - ocra season.
Not like ocra have any season. But my family plant them annually, around this time of the year.
I just finished transferring the seedlings to the raised bed.
Looking forward to a bountiful harvest.
I like planting ocra because monkeys and pigs don't disturb them. Plus, ocra can be added into a lot of side dish.
Do you replant anything annually?

We have had them in our garden. We call them Lady's fingers.

Wow! We are still waiting here to plant for the first time this year.
How do you prepare ocra?
You have wild monkies and pigs? Amazing

I usually cut off the hard stem part, wash them and put them in curry or spicy fish stew. For stir-fry, I sliced them and directly put them into the wok to avoid them excreting those sticky thing.
Yes, there's monkeys and pigs (or boar) here. They are probably hungry since there's nothing to eat in the too-tiny jungle/bushes that they goes into villages looking for food.

@shaqziad1610 Interesting! I have not really thought of fish and spicy in the same dish. I would be interested.
Oh dear, what do the boar or the monkies do when you see them?

We boil, steam or fry in butter okra and dip it in soy and eat it with hot rice, it's fibre rich.

Sure, it is hard to make kids eat veggies. What my parent did is let us take part in planting, watering and harvesting. So we know the veggies served is from our own hard work, and we dont want them to go to waste.

Strawberries is cool, but I think it is quite hard for beginner. What I do is I try planting the easier ones first, like sprouts and spring onions. Then only I moved to okra, pumpkin and herbs.

@shaqziad1610 in fish stew as well. I like spicy foods but my kids don't, so I don't add spicy ingredients in my dish, well, except for pepper.
