Facebook is now the biggest social media platform in the world. It was originally a place where people could share pictures and stories. It has become an incredibly powerful place over the years, It was originally a place where experiences and messages of support could be shared and it felt fair and safe .It is now a controller of mass perception. In control what you see and how you sit on any given subject. With such a strangle hold on public opinion, they can control how you feel by choosing what to promote and now apparently according to reports they will be stopping any posts that disagree with mainstream views. There have been meetings with government leaders (Zuckerberg met the Irish leader this week) to discuss who can post what on FB in the name of security and how to implement this censorship. Most people have learned things from real people about vaccinations, medical treatments, political corruption and a host of other things. This has helped them make an informed opinion about their lives and the world. Now FB are looking like all you will hear is what the powers that be want you to hear. Corruption shutting the people down as they do in the news media on TV and radio. This news about censorship of people on what is supposed to be an open public platform pisses me off.

I will definitely be booted off/reprimanded in some way and that's okay with me-not going to change my faith or the fact that I home school my children. =)
They definitely want control over everything...so grateful I know my God is much bigger!

Facebook really helped people to get in touch with each other. But right now, it seems that it's the only way to talk to anyone.

"Free speech" is great but it must be tempered with responsibility. Rules do not automatically mean censorship but a way of protecting the rights of others. Given the powerful influence these media and social platforms exert, there should be universal agreements that provide sanctions to safeguard human decency.

I don't delve into those things. I use Facebook mainly to play online games..
