Are there beggars in your place/country?

I was in the downtown earlier today and saw some beggars which actually I seldom saw the past few years in our place. I remember before I usually see a lot of beggars in the city but few years back, our local government discourages us, its citizens, to hand money to the beggars which I believe is the reason why we only have few beggars left these days. Just earlier today I saw some, I wonder if beggars are also present in your place/country?

@marieleizl They have their bed and a locker in the shelter. They can take a bath and they are served two free hot meals. They can go out and go back, they are not "prisoners".

Good if they can stay in shelters. Sometimes here in the Philippines, we have beggars and if seen by authorities they bring them to shelter but later they prefer to be released and dont want to stay in shelters

yes.the main street here always has people asking for handouts.
but the ones around here aren't homeless-they get state checks.
they found out they get more that way rather than working.
great way to live if you have no pride.
