Should a two year old use a tablet?

April 7, 2019 4:34pm CST
Hi guys, wanted to bring a question up to you. I have a two year old girl whom I love very much. Now I sometimes let her watch her shows or play games on a tablet when she first wakes up or maybe before bed. I only let her play on it for 30 min or so. Now of course there’s a lot of conspiracies of people saying that too much exposure to something like that can hinder their brain growth and intellect when they are that young. But I only let her play on it for a short time. Should I just not have her play on it at all or continue doing what I’m doing? Just wondering what you guys thought.

Both my grandkids had iPads after turning 2 years old and learned how to read when they were 2, 3 and 4. They were only allowed to play with them for 30 minutes and on certain days. Still do. They are both high achievers in school and in sports, so I say go for it!

I dont really know, after all it is ur child, but i think 2 is too young but again, it can be good for educational purposes. Everything has 2 side of the coin when u look at it :)

Studies have been for a lot of children it actually good for Brian’s it all depends on what you put on. We have educational games and the access is limited. My 4 year old Likes to watch his educational shows on the table and his reading games.

It's always good and more better to expose them outside; to sunlight and doing outdoorsy activities..

I think you should stop it. Two years is very little. Use of tablet or mobiles hinder their brain growth and effect their eyesight. Even this also affect the gripping of holding pencils.

I don't think so. Such kind of digital device will not bring the young children benefits. On the contrary, it will be harmful for their eyesight. And I am afraid they will be addicted to it in a long term. It is always better for the children to play some traditional toys. And the books will always be the best for them.

If it will just for a few minutes, I guess it should be fine.

If it used for educational purposes and with close monitoring of an adult, then I do not see any problem with it.

Not sure what I would do if I had a two year at this time but things have changed a lot since I had my kids. Only parents can make those decisions.

Monitoring it for a short time is no big deal. There are ways to block content. Plus... We are living in a world of technology. When I was her age, computers never existed. Neither did cell phones. I would just make sure what she watches is educational, and you should not have anything to worry about. There are a lot of sing-a-longs that help with A B C's and stuff like that...

I think two years is too young to expose to such but if you are doing it for only a few minutes then there is no problem.
