Does your mood go down when you are around people that yell and can't get along?

I hate it when I am with a group of people and they start to argue about something they are talking about and it gets very loud and animated and even leads to yelling and name calling. When I am around that, or just around people that cannot get along, especially when it's people close to me, my mood goes downhill and the tears come. Why can't people just get along and have conversations without it leading to arguments or verbal fights, especially if they get together to celebrate a birthday?
I wish I didn't react like this but that's what happens to me every time. Perhaps, it's because I am a very emotional/sensitive person. And even if I am able to hold back the tears when I am with everyone, they will come as soon as I go to the bathroom or to a different room where no one is.
Does this happen to you? How do you deal with it when you are around this type of a situation?

It's a depressing situation. If I can I try to distance away. These people create negativity.

@lovebuglena I agree with you. Remember desiderata, laud people are vexations to the spirit.

When we are in such a situation, it gets difficult to handle. Losing our cool and shouting makes us vulnerable. It could lead to tears also. I've observed raising our voice in anger causes lots of pressure on us and it could be harmful for us.

@lovebuglena It is good that you prefer peace. However, sometimes you tend to lose your cool and raise your voice and feel bad, thereafter.

I prefer peace and quiet than loud, raised voices and yelling, especially when it's not warranted.

My parents tend to not get along enough times and I hate being around that when it happens.

That's great that it doesn't happen among your circle of people. Certainly don't need any of that negativity and drama.

I remain quiet when someone yelled at me. But not always. But its painful when they are very close to you. I just want to leave that place.

If you can keep quiet and not react that is great. But not always the case unfortunately.

I don't like it when people just have normal conversations at a much higher volume than necessary, but when it escalates to arguments, verbal fights, or even gets physical I just can't take it. There are people that are not affected by it at all but unfortunately, I am not one of those people.

What is it about weddings and birthdays that brings out the worst in people? Was there liquor involved? I try to distance myself from these people. I am also very sensitive.

I guess the instant it happens I can try walking away... Maybe then I will be affected less.
