I'm just their "rent a human"

United States
April 10, 2019 7:15am CST
Well, I am just popping in to say hello. I woke up at 7:30ish and made myself get out of bed, get into the shower and start my day. My friends have disembarked from their cruise ship and are making their way home as we speak. It's about 5 hours from Charleston, SC to where I am here in NC. I'm not sure that they will stop since they should have had breakfast on the boat. Anyway I am doing a load of towels, am about to clean the litter box, sweep the floors and take out the trash. After that I have to pack my things, make sure their bathroom is clean and their bedroom is nice. Not that I had a wild raging party or anything... So I won't be back on until later, or even tomorrow, I'm not sure yet. *I'm just their pets "rent a human" is what I meant by the title

Do you feel like he has just been a "rent a human"? I hope you were glad to take care of their pets. I am sure you are happy to go back home.

I am mixed about going back home. I will have a lot of things to do because I am the only one that does any cleaning. Here I've done all the cleaning as well, bu then I was only cleaning up after myself and the animals.

Oh pet sitting, what fun that is. I have done it once or twice and I hope I never do it again. It was two big huskies and they are crazy dogs, it was more work then I thought it would be LOL

They used to have a malmute which is a cousin to the huskie. He was a handful. Now they have three dogs, two are german shepherds, one is a border collie. They have a muted calico cat and a black cat. I am glad that today is the last day I had to clean out the litter box.

I hope they brought you a nice gift for pet sitting. Roomie will be cat sitting when I am gone later this month..However, as long as he checks on the cat periodically he doesn't necessarily have to be here.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Oh what is rumchata? I am sure the bag will come in handy.

@snowy22315 It's Rum + Horchata. Horchata is a rice / cinnamon / sweetened condensed milk drink.

Are you doing this for love or just money? It really depends on this answer how happy you are to be 'rented'. Still, it is so good to by home.

Heh, well my friend may bring me back something from the bahamas. I am doing this out of love though, more than anything. She knows I wouldn't expect money.

@marguicha Oh I am sure that they would. Last year I got a backpack and a nice little bottle with sand from the bahamas. She sent me photos while she was still there, I told her to try to find me something from off the beach. Maybe she will have found something there and won't have to pay for anything for me.

@simone10 Oh yes. Plus I cleaned their house so all they had to worry about was their laundry when they got home.

I feel like everyone has misunderstood... I am at their house right now, they are coming home and I will be leaving. I am not worried about their company, I'm worried about making sure their house is clean so that they won't have to clean anything for a day or two.

I hope those pets made you feel loved. If not, come by my house. I have a Golden that will make you think you're the center of her universe. She's not long on obedience but she's an awesome listener.

Oh yes they always make me feel loved. My friend has a border collie and two german shepherd's. The border collie is the sweetest puppy and he's a good listener too. I told him that his mommy is coming home today.

Pity Party
Oh boy, first of all I want to thank you for the phrase "Rent a Human", I'm gonna use this phrase on my husband. Maybe it should be pay for a maid! I clean up after him, his kids, whom I adore, but they pigs! If it oinks its a pig! And I'm not talking about a normal mess ,I am talking about leaving plates of food under the couch , these kids are 17 and 20 years old . So , let me make this perfectly clear , it's hard to tick me off , but the other day , the house was so bad ,it looked like a tornado hit, not to mention, how disrespectful ? They'll know I'm the one that's gonna have to clean it up . So I talked to my husband about it , who did nothing . In fact, that exact same night, my hubby and son, watched me clean up a huge mess in the kitchen ! Sometimes ,actually all the time, I feel like all I do is clean up and do things for other people and never take time out for myself . Our lives should be as fulfilled as there's . There's nobody cleaning up for helping me! I feel your pain!O, my husband refuses to clean out the kitty litter box . It basically boils down to a lack of respect in my opinion . I'm having a pity party I know!

Okay, let me first clarify.. I was saying that I was the animals "Rent a human." However, I can understand where you are coming from. Right now I am at a friend's house, however, I know I will go home to dishes everywhere, lots of laundry to do, and a bathroom to clean. I live with, and take care of, two family members. They arent' so hopeless that they can't clean, but they don't clean. I am constantly having to throw soda bottles into the recycling bin, take dishes to the sink... I have to clean the stove a lot because they prepare food on it instead of on the counter. I understand how you feel though and I don't think you are having a pity party, you are just having a "I'm so tired of this!" moment, and I feel you there.
