Since I already wrote about a popular song that I remember from my pre-teen years, I am taking this to mean a children's song that I remember from when I was little. This song is from a children's album that Pete Seeger did called "American Folk Songs for Children." It included other such favorites as "She'll be Coming Around the Mountain," and "Froggie Went A-Courting,"

I guess it does make sense that it would be a children's song.. I'd probably pick 'Old Mac Donald'

Now that's a kid's song that's stood the test of time. I knew it, my kids knew it, and my grandkids know it.

I remember these songs but I don't know how old I was when I heard them. As my mom's mental health deteriorated we would get her to sing oldies and in the beginning she did quite well with the words. Those were songs like Oh Suzanna, and many that I can sing portions of but not the whole song. A song that was popular when I was young was yellow-polka dot bikini.

Yes, that's very common that people remember the refrain, but not the verses in between.

@norcal with many of them I know more than three refrain just not the whole song. The more popular ones I can sing when I hear them.

I guess it's gotten some criticism because it's about a slave who seems kinda happy that his master's gone away.
