It has been ages since I last ate gnocchi. So today I will make some. I always remember my maternal grandmother when I eat them. She taught me several Italian and Peruvian dishes that were part of her heritage. It is wonderful how we can remember our loved ones who have parted a long time ago by eating the dishes we used to have with them. Do you have a dish that reminds you of a loved one?

Yes, when I make chicken and yellow rice or black beans and rice I think of my mama's parents. My grandpa was Spanish and his mama taught my grandma how to cook it.

There are many delicious dishes in the Spanish cuisine. Many of them were brought to the Americas by the immigrants who came here.

I mostly remember the dishes mom used to make. I miss those turnip and mustard greens she'd make for us, they were so delicious.

@marguicha My husband likes both the potato gnocchi and the pumpkin gnocchi. Here they also make gnocchi with potatoes and chestnut flour, very good with a mushroom sauce.

I don't think I have ever had gnocchi but it looks and sounds amazing! I don't really know if I have a meal that reminds me of someone which is kind of sad.

When our mothers or grandmothers do not cook, you don´t really associate any food with your childhood.

@marguicha My mom cooks for me and she did when I was a child, but most of her meals are either too good to think of a favorite or they are nothing special it is just food haha

That's so nice you learned from her how to make them so every time you make them you are reminded of her. I ate gnocchi once but have never made it yet.

I personally don't have a dish that reminds me of a loved one, but I'm really fascinated with the idea of making gnocchi. Believe it or not, I got the idea from a novel I read about 2 or 3 years ago (I am an avid reader) then forgot what it was called until I read your post. Is it easy to make?
