Are you good at goodbyes?

Today I had to say goodbye to a friend who is going to live in Spain. She's going to do an exchange for 1 year and I took her to the airport with her family, but by the time I said goodbye I could barely say anything (but I was visibly moved... because we've known each other for 7 years). How do you deal - in general - with goodbyes?

I can't be a stone. Goodbyes are sad for me.

I need to say 'goodbye' well before the allotted time as I'm usually a mess at the last moment.

@WiseGhots It is very hard to say goodbye to people that mean a lot to us.

I suppose it's an awkward feeling for me. Anything to do with closeness or "mush" I get uncomfortable. But I plunge on and say the proper words no matter how I feel inside.
