Dog or cat?

I am planning to get a pet soon but hasn't decided yet if I should get a dog or a cat. I am 60% going to get a dog and 40% cat. With dogs, it can guard you and watch your house when you are away. With cats, they are sweet and adorable! So I am confused.
What kind of pet do you have at home?

We have a dog currently. A furry beast named Oscar that we adopted from the Humane Society. My husband is a BIG dog person. I want a cat, but can't convince him to get a kitten.

Can I ask if you like dogs better than cats? Dogs you have to walk at least 3 times a day and make sure they get all of their shots. A cat is more independent and can stay at home or there are cats that are both inside and outside cats but live in a home. They have a litterbox to go to the bathroom. They are very smart and want respect and love. A dog also wants love and respect. Maybe you can babysit both and decide what you want. Dogs need room to move in so if you want a dog that will grow to medium size or bigger they need a place to run around in. I hope this helped you out.

Right now I have dogs but soon i will be getting cats. The cats I've had in the past have guarded my house and been extremely sweet so i love both. Maybe keep an open mind and go to a shelter and meet both dogs and cats and see if there's one you connect with and get them
