Not as planned, and I am glad

I wanted to stay home today, but was scheduled to work. Mid morning the young man I work with "became sick". He is sick every day. He does not want to do his work at school. He wants to stay home and play video games. He may be sick, but he has seen the doctor many times. It is like the fable of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf". We will never know if he is really ill. So, the entire afternoon was to be Easter party, watch movies, eat snacks, etc. I did not have any work to do, so I came on home. At home, I ran a blanket through the wash, preparing to store it. We had sunshine, and a brisk breeze. I thought I would hang it on the line. I did not get it done. The clouds blew over, the wind picked up quite heavily, and we had pouring rain. The blanket is in the dryer now. Things did not go as planned.

@GardenGerty Hmm. Well, you can get him an IEP and ship him off to some classroom where they're used to this kind of thing. Sigh.

@GardenGerty Sorry about the weather. I keep my clothes on a rack inside after they finish in the washer till I know the weather is going to be nice all the time. I wonder what will happen if he really gets sick. How do you think he will convince people that he is really sick?

I do not know. His mom and grandma need to not give in to him so much. He complained for a week that his "heart hurt", so they took him to a doctor, who told him he had nothing wrong. He may honestly have something like IBS or Crohn's disease. I hope they get him tested.

@GardenGerty does he have anyone who takes care of him? Maybe a family member you can talk to.

Sounds like he's used it for an excuse. I would have him examined by a doctor to see if he's faking being sick or not.

They have, even as recently as this week. He kept telling people his heart hurt, so that got checked out. I would guess he may have a very poor diet and it upsets his digestion.

It sounds like he wants to be home. I had a student (well, more than one) who would claim to be sick just about every day. You knew they weren't but you had to sent them to the nurse anyway. Finally the parents said to just ignore and keep him in class.

A lot of days they keep him at school. The principal just said if he wanted to miss the party he would send him home. We have had state assessments testing and he has been this way all week. He is much to big for his own health and is bright but unmotivated.

@GardenGerty I hope they can determine what the problem is. Maybe he needs to be challenged more intellectly.

There are a variety of plans in the works for him at Middle School. I do dislike going over but not having work, but this was a party day so I was fine not staying. If it were to happen say this upcoming week the lead teacher would find a job for me to do that needed to be done.

I think ours is a pretty typical spring. I am just glad we did not have a freeze so far in April, although it still could happen.
