I am sure you have heard of the old saying "Age is just a number." In the case of 97 year old lawyer James L. Bass Junior who is in the practice of working in real estate deeds and the like for 70 years in Carthage Tennessee. It does help to have James two children Jane Bass Turner, 56 and David Bass, 60, take care of their dad to find a challenge in life after his wife of 62 years of marriage Erma passed away in 2014. James insists that he has no plans to step down anytime soon since his life would be empty without something to give him a purpose to live.

James can thank his two children for giving him the support he needs to be like the Energizer Bunny. Just keep on going.

@Deepizzaguy wish we could reach his age. The support of his family helps him a lot in staying healthy throughout these years.

@Janet357 That is true since many people die of broken hearts when they feel that no one cares for them anyone.

Great man! Maybe not retiring keeps him alert and sane. I know someone who gradually lost his memory after retiring. I am thinking to do the same, if I get a chance to reach the threshold of 70.

Retirement without a second way to keep working is a pathway to depression and dementia.

James is still working as a lawyer at age 97 even though he might be working on a part time basis.

Goodness me, and we millenials always think about how to retire early.

The worst thing that happens to many people is that they have a hard time finding a purpose in life after retirement.

@Deepizzaguy Yeah, that's true. Also some people have a deep sense of responsibility which doesn't let them sit idle.
