Why does it seem more acceptable to society to be a big man then to be a big woman? I find we tend to judge bigger women harshly than bigger men. Any thoughts?

I believe that big men are more accepted. Women in this day an age seem to have to fit a certain standard. There ARE men out there, however, who like thick women.

You're right, there are a little percentage of men who even prefer a bigger woman. I wonder what happened to the times when Marylin Monroe, who was a size 16 was the sexiest woman on earth!

Yes, what you say is true, unfortunately. I have a cousin who is having a tough time in her teens, as her friends think she is too big for today's beauty concept. No matter how hard I try to convince her that she is beaufitul with her large eyes and perfect features, she tends to pay more attention to what her friends say. Even as she grows up to a woman, she may face the same problem I guess, though I believe it is just a matter of perspective. It is quite surprising that men are considered more powerful and authoritative when they are big. I can only say that it is high time we get rid of such misconceptions.

I blame the media. If you look at how celebs are treated, they are criticised for being too thin, and made fun of for being over weight. It's a cruel world.

You are right about society accepting bigger man than bigger woman.I say it has to do with the media. They tend to make it that girls have to be a certain size and have a certain body(shaped like a coke bottle)LOL.. I dont find it's fair.I think we shouldnt pass judgment on how big someone is or not.Does that change who they are not really.

You are absolutely right. The present society seems to project images of thin women all over the media. It has become acceptable to judge women based on their size.

Because the media puts more emphasis on the woman rather than the men. It's just always been. It doesn't make it fair.
