The day of the resurrection of Jesus.
Today also marks the day of a different kind of resurrection, Windows 7
I was a Windows 7 user for many years, then that FREE UPGRADE by Microsoft for Windows 10 came out.
I took the bait. I upgraded to Windows 10
Then after I realized some of my favorite applications had been instantly removed from my computer, I got upset.
For one thing, Windows 10 is a great operating system, don't let me tell you otherwise, but when I upgraded from 7 to 10, I lost a very valuable computer program, that is, Windows Media Center.
So I no longer had use of my Digital TV tuner, antenna and was no longer able to program T V shows from local broadcast networks in my area.
I liked Windows Media so much that I regretted upgrading to Windows 10 because of it.
I am an avid television watcher.
That said, I also like watching movies on DVD.
Guess what? The Windows 10 upgrade removed the ability to play DVD movies!
I had to buy the DVD player APP in order to continue playing movies on my PC.
Not good. So, by downgrading back to my original Windows 7 Home Premium, that is the factory default operating system for my old desktop PC, I am now able to play any DVD movie I want without having the DVD player APP.
Of course, I had to deal with sacrificing all the APPS I paid for. But that is okay, because, I know that when my PC's Windows 7 becomes obsolete, and by January 2020, sometime in January, Windows 7 support will no longer be available. No more service or security updates. No more extra features.
But I'm okay with that, because I know I will HAVE TO RUN WITH WINDOWS 10 when I eventually purchase a newer computer.
My system crashed due to running Norton Utilities 16 that I bought and paid for back a few years ago and was running Speed Disc and Deep Defragment.
There was a sudden explosion. A transformer in the alley blew up. All power was lost for a mile East of our house, including traffic lights and street lights.
When my computer, along with every light in our house lost electric power the system was half way into deep defrag mode.
When I ran a system check using Norton Utilities the next day, I had to finish my defragment process and that process completed with no issues. But, the system check ran and found error codes. I was able to run Windows 10 but had problems that Windows could not repair. It got stuck at 10% and for over 2 hours I sat looking at my desktop monitor and saw no progress.
After I shut down my computer and ran a Windows recovery I noticed that I had no backups to restore the system. Apparently I lost my backups or had none, that is, the backup process had not been working for over 2 years since I upgraded my Windows 7 to Windows 10 using the original basic Windows 7 backup and restore.
No problem. I just pressed F1 to go to the sub menu when the system was not able to fix it automatically and realized that I had to reformat my hard drive and restore my system back to its factory settings.
Now I have lost hundreds of files. But I did manual backups, but not system backups or shadow copy or system image. Due to mistakenly not turning on File History in Windows 10 as I was supposed to do after upgrading.
Now I have my old Windows 7 back. And I have my original Windows 7 backup scheduled to automatically backup my computer files and system image and file system once a week every Sunday night.
I turned on my PC this morning, after running Windows Update with about 201 updates, and a message appeared on my desktop the moment I logged in. Guess what that message said?
Windows 7 will expire in January 2020.
So here is a link to why I will continue to run my PC on Windows 7 for now.
To this day Windows 7 still dominates market share due its speed, ease of use, and lack of complexity.

I still have an old laptop with Windows 7 on it. I normally don’t connect to the Internet with it. I just have it “in case” I need a Windows computer (which hasn’t happened in the four years I’ve had a Mac).

Since 1992, I was told by a Macintosh computer owner that Windows was not as good. Most Mac users swear by their apple devices. I guess I might have to look into a Mac Laptop. But meantime I enjoy my Windows 7 with Media Center and get to record my favorite TV shows any time I want. The end of service for Windows 7 will be sometime in January of 2020. Meantime I have to look for a few applications to add. I can't watch Hulu on the Hulu app because Windows 7 doesn't and can not use apps. One day maybe they will create a Windows OS that doesn't depend on apps with purchase options in game, and apps that you pay only one time and don't have to subscribe and renew on a yearly basis.

I still have and still use Windows 7 on my PC but I already have my plans intact, I already talked to my techie buddy and anytime I want to shift to 10 when 7 is about to explode we will do it together with my PC upgrade like going 64 bit from 32, changing the processor, adding memory and video cards etc...I already have all my materials and the software is with my friend, for now I will enjoy my Windows 7. Using the desktop less and less now since I'm always either on my phone or my tablet.
